What To Read Wednesday is a weekly feature at Fiction Vixen. Each Wednesday one of the Fiction Vixen reviewers will tell you about a book they’ve recently read that they think you need to read too. This week, Jen recommends:
The Reluctant Nude by Meg Maguire
I have seen The Reluctant Nude talked about on and off for several years but I never got around to reading it. It has an overwhelming amount of 4 and 5 stars review from some friends that I know have similar reading tastes. Sometimes I am hesitant to pick up those books because I don’t want to be the odd man out.
Happily, I was not the odd man out here. The Reluctant Nude is exactly what every romance book should be. It is so closely focused on the relationship between the H/h that I didn’t even miss a crazy plot or tons of secondary characters or exploding things. It is a dazzling read about two damaged people finding their way in each other. If you are looking for a character driven romance that will make you tear up, sigh and then smile over the course of 200+ pages, you won’t regret this one.
She addressed his back. “Don’t act like you pity me.
“You read so much into the spaces between words.”
“My sex life is none of your business, anyway.”
He turned to face her again, catching her eyes in that inescapable pull. “Right now, and for the next ten weeks, your body and its history are the centre of my universe. Everything.” He gestured, fingertips to his chest then waving out to encompass the studio. “It is all in your orbit. And you – your body – you’re as cold as the stone I’m using to render it.”
