I’m Erica Lynn, and I write erotic romance / contemporary romance novellas. Wicked Game is my most recent release, and it’s a stand alone novella surrounding Kara Smith and William Richardson. This is an enemies turned lovers story, and it’s steamy, sexy and fun, with some raw emotion as well.
Let’s Get To Know Erica Lynn
Q: What are the top five books that have influenced your career?
A: 1. Asking for Trouble – Tessa Bailey
2. Protecting What’s His – Tessa Bailey
3. Rising Assets – Rebecca Zanetti
4. Under the Covers – Rebecca Zanetti
5. In Bed With Mr. Wrong – Katee Robert
I absolutely adore these books, my favorite being Asking for Trouble. Of course, I may just be bias because Tessa Bailey is my all time fave. 😉 These are some of the first books I read when I began reading erotic romance about 3 years ago. I’d think, “I think I can do this,” and then I’d read more and say, “I really really think I can do this!” So they definitely influenced me to give it a go, and I’ll always be thankful to each of these brilliant and sexy ladies.
Q: What’s the funniest thing a reader has ever said/emailed to you?
A: I had a co-worker let me know that after reading Wicked Game, she had to wake her husband up for some “boom boom” as she put it. I got such a kick out of that, and it was honestly the best compliment I’ve ever had. I had to tweet it with a mic drop gif.
Q: What fictional character would you punch if the face if you thought you could get away with it without going to jail?
A: In my first novella, Her Husband’s Brother, my protagonist is just absolutely detestable. I would cringe when I wrote him. I mean really, such a jerk. My heroine, Lexie, is the sweetest person. Just full of love for others. So yeah, if I could go punch Dean and knock him out, I wouldn’t hesitate!
About Wicked Game by Erica Lynn
Kara Smith is stressed to the max. She’s close to losing the bar she inherited from her grandfather, she’s exhausted from taking care of her alcoholic father, and to top things off, she’s losing precious clientele to a new nightclub in Houston. She’s so desperate, she’s actually considering the insane proposition her best friend, Trevor Black, has made her. Marry him, and he’ll make sure she keeps her bar.
William Richardson is the son of Carl Jones, as in the Carl Jones…the owner of many of the amazing nightclubs in Houston. Carl has come up with his best idea yet, if only he can get Kara to sell her bar. If William can make sure this happens, he’ll be handed his father’s empire. And hey, William and Kara can’t stand each other, so it should be easy, right?
But after an intensely steamy night where they set aside their feud and bond in the most erotic of ways, will he still be willing to convince her to let go of her bar? Will he even want to?
Kara held a shot to William, who shook his head. “I’ve had enough for tonight. Thanks, though.”
Kara hadn’t had nearly enough. She shrugged and took her shot, waited a moment for the bite to settle, and then downed his. “Thanks for offering to stay, but I don’t need a babysitter. If you want to go, feel free.” William stayed quiet, so she continued. “All right, but if you stay, you’re going to have to deal with more of my auditioning for the world’s most awful music video, or whatever the hell he said.” She jerked suddenly when William came upon her, way too much in her personal space. She looked up at his six-foot-five frame and couldn’t help but take in his solidly built body. Color filled her cheeks as she stared at his blue shirt, his muscles pressing against the fabric. Okay, you’ve had way too much tequila.
“I have no interest in babysitting. I stayed because I want to stay,” William said, looking down at her with a heated expression. Then he knelt and spoke into her ear, his whispered breath sending chills up her spine. “And just so you know, Trevor clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I fucking love the way you dance.”
WILLIAM WATCHED AS Kara’s face reddened. He didn’t know why it pleased him so damn much, but it did. He saw a different side to her tonight, fun and energetic, and he was aware of the other men in the club watching her. Normally he’d feel sorry for any sucker dumb enough to approach her, but tonight he wanted to be the man she stayed by.
Kara seemed to get herself together, then smiled up at him. “Okay, well, are you coming or what?”
William followed her to the dance floor where they stayed for at least another hour. At some point, and he couldn’t figure out exactly when, their bodies joined together. They swayed and moved in time with each other, dancing as if they’d been doing it all their lives. The music drowned out the surrounding sounds, their hips moved in rhythm with the beat, and the darkness swallowed everyone, leaving them seemingly alone in their own little world.
William groaned when her back pressed into his chest, her soft body flush with his. What the fuck are you doing, man? She can’t stand you, and you share the sentiment. Stop this shit right now. Her hands snaked around his neck, goose bumps breaking out on her skin as he allowed his fingertips to graze the underside of her arm and down to her tiny waist. Before he could stop himself, and he should stop, his fingers dug into her hips, kneading her flesh. His cock sprang to life in his jeans when he heard a guttural moan break free from her throat. He struggled to breathe as his lips found the side of her head, and he inhaled her citrusy scent. What is that? Grapefruit? Fuck…
Kara turned and angled her head, her parted lips gently brushing against his. His tongue hesitantly slid against her soft bottom lip before pulling it between his teeth and nibbling.
“Get a room!”
William felt her tense against him as the asshole’s words got through to her head. She quickly stepped away, and he instantly missed the heat from her body. She turned to face him, embarrassment in her expression. “Too much tequila.” She nervously laughed and glanced around the dance floor. “I’m, uh, I think it’s time for me to go home.” She turned and hastily made her way toward the exit before she even finished the sentence.
My favorite quote from Wicked Game is:
Wicked Game is an enemies to lovers novella, so at one point in the beginning of the story, William is trying to get under Kara’s skin, per the norm. She’s decided she’s not going to let it fly this time, so she comes out with guns blazing. He tells her she looks a little stressed, and if she needs to relieve some tension, to give him a call and he’ll take care of it. She then responds with this gem, “Oh, really? Have you decided to try pussy for the first time? Good for you.”
