She’s fed up with being fed on.

All Miranda Thibodeaux really wants to do is survive corporate hell and be left alone. But as the daughter of the Incubi king, being left alone isn’t on her schedule. And as an avatar to a goddess with multiple personality issues, taking things in stride isn’t either.

Daniel looks like an ordinary surfer boy–T. T. B.–Tall, Tanned, and Blond. Hot he may be, but ordinary he’s not. Beneath the pretty packaging lies a ruthless warrior, a servant to the Vampire Council. His mission is to find Miranda and present her to the council, then get the hell out of Dodge before he loses his focus. The last thing he needs is the distraction of the testy female.

When circumstances force Miranda to turn to T.T.B. for help, they both end up with more than they bargained for. And that normal human life she wanted? Not really doable when everyone wants a piece of her…

Exclusive Excerpt

I closed my eyes and listened to the water running down the hall in the guest shower. All that hiking and adrenaline this morning had done a number on me. I wasn’t out of shape, but running through tunnels, being attacked by starved Incubi, and carting severed heads around would reduce anyone to mush. Then climbing up a hill while holding the head, a nice long walk to steal a car…. If Daniel hadn’t fed me, I’d be flat on my back passed out.

The water turned off, and I heard the muted thump of a door closing as he emerged into the hallway.

“Chicken.” I said the word under my breath, knowing he would hear. He didn’t reply, just sauntered into his adjoining bedroom and started rummaging around.

“Hey T.T.B., would you mind getting me some clothes and towels?” I rested my forearms on the ledge around the tub, hoping to catch a glimpse of him naked.

He appeared in the doorway wearing a pair of well-worn jeans that clung to his thighs and groin like a second skin. “What would you like to wear?”

I wanted to peel his pants down and see if he had on another pair of those silk boxers. Part of me hoped yes, and part of me hoped no. The possibilities for either were delicious. Daniel hadn’t bothered to put on a shirt yet, and I wondered if it was on purpose. Perhaps he wanted to turn my game on its head.

“Doesn’t matter. I want to eat something and then take a nap. I’m pretty tired.” I took my time and studied his abdomen and chest, lips, nose, until finally making eye contact. I let him see the appreciation I had for his body on my face.

He nodded and left the room, returning with a pile of clothing that he set down on the vanity. Then he rummaged in the towel cabinet and placed two on the ledge of the tub all while managing not to look at me while I lounged there. Dammit, I had even leaned back to give him a good view. He held up a washcloth and looked like he might toss it to me. That would never do, so I stood up abruptly and turned around.

I peeped at him over my shoulder and combed my hair around to the front. His eyes widened in surprise and darkened just as quickly. He stood there frozen, his stare glued to my reflection in the mirror directly opposite me.

“Would you mind washing my back? I think there’s vampire goo on it.”

His nostrils flared, and he closed the distance. My nipples hardened. His gaze shifted to my ass, so I put all my weight on my right leg to cock my hip out. That merited another deep breath and a slow blink.

“Kneel down. Please.”

I lowered myself to my knees in the water. It came up over my breasts, and I tried to formulate an argument for why this would never work if he was going to wash my back. He knelt next to the tub before I came up with something and began to lather the washcloth. Gripping my left shoulder with one hand, he moved his right over my upper back and shoulder blades with a thoroughness that left me aching. He scrubbed across my lower back, being careful to never dip too low. I fought the temptation to stand up again so he’d have to touch my ass, but the man was a masterful masseuse. Relaxation spread through every muscle he caressed and stroked.

“What do I have to do to get you to rub my whole body like that?”

He stilled and leaned in close to my ear. The tickle of his breath against my neck and earlobe gave me chills when he finally spoke. “Perhaps if you would behave I could be persuaded.”

“Perhaps I would behave if you would stop being so damned stubborn.”

I reached up and around to grab the back of his head with my right hand and pressed my fingers into the soft hair at the nape of his neck. I liked the texture of it when I ran my hand upward, against the grain. He drew lazy circles on my shoulder with his thumb.

I turned my head and caught his lips in the barest whisper of a kiss, a light, teasing brush I followed by running the tip of my tongue along the lower.

Let’s Talk

Q: Tell our readers why you think they’ll enjoy Hunger Embraced (The Hunger Series book One)

A: Miranda, is a snarky, funny, self-reliant heroine with a jelly bean obsession who meets her match with Daniel, the man-on-a-mission Guardian for the Vampire Council. She didn’t sign up for being the avatar for a goddess, the fiancee in an arranged marriage to an arrogant jerk, or a succubus. But she’s got to suck it up (har-har) and make it work, which she does…while taking Daniel along for the ride. Hunger Embraced is a sexy paranormal romance peppered with mythology, wit, and candy. Because sugar helps all your ills when you’ve had a bad day killing monsters and telling unwanted suitors to get out of your face or you’ll be forced to eat them.

Q: You may have noticed we like to include our favorite quote in our reviews of the books we read. What is your favorite quote from Hunger Embraced (The Hunger Series book One)?

A: My favorite quote from Hunger Embraced (The Hunger Series book One) is:

Not long after that, I found a note from Mister Home Invasion himself propped on the carton of eggs he’d bought.

Make sure you eat some more protein today. Not just jelly beans.
–T.T.B.

It looked like calligraphy and confirmed my suspicion about his age. He was older than dirt.

Didn’t matter. I still wanted to see him again. Naked.

I like the Sookie series. :) Love Eric especially. I watched Vamps recently and it was an okay movie… Not sure if I can eat on rats’ blood though…

sounds fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing! I love the Rachel Morgan series by Kim Harrison. And the “heartbreaker” that I enjoy the most is Jeremy Renner… yum :)

    efender1(at)gmail(dot)com

    • says

YES! To both of those. :) I adore Rachel. How mad were you when Kisten died??? I cried, then I was furious, then I was so in love with Kim Harrison for doing the hard thing and not sacrificing her story to keep a character around, no matter how beloved he was.

  3. Victoria Zumbrum says

I love the Twilight series. If I was a vampire, I would want to still eat human food. I think Tim McGraw is hot. Thanks for the giveaway. Please enter me. Tore923@aol.com

  4. DA says

Oh – this is a hard one – can I pick 2? The Night Huntress series & The Crimson Kiss series (Trisha Baker). Other food? Well – Mercury has sort of the same consistency as blood. I would love to win a copy of this book.

    • says

I love Cat and Bones! I haven’t heard of the other series though..looks like a new addition to the TBR pile.

BUt what if the Mercury turned you blue? Or was that silver nitrate? No, really, people used to eat some chemical that turned them blue….

  5. wanda f says

The Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands .Hmm not normal human food how about blood red rose petals .Jensen Ackles yummmm

  6. Mary Preston says

    The The Night Huntress series.

    As to a heartbreaker – I couldn’t think of a favorite.

    marypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com

  7. says

My favorite heart breaker is… um… Damon Salvatore from TVD.

My fave vampire series is the Vampire Academy, so far. If I were a vampire, but could feed on something other than blood to survive (other than normal human food), I would feed on energy — bad or good, though preferably bad.

  8. Lori Meehan says

Favorite vamp series…Dark Protectors by Rebecca Zanetti.
    I’d like to eat flowers.
Heart breaker…Ian MacKenzie from Athens Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley.

    Thank you for the giveaway.

  9. CrystalGB says

My favorite heartbreaker is Tom Hardy. My favorite vampire series is the Midnight Breed series. I would want to be fed on elements from nature (wind, earth, sunshine, rain, etc.).

  10. Chelsea B. says

The Love at Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks! :-)
I would feed on… Dreams. Goodness knows I’ve been having enough of them lately.

  11. says

I like the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, although I’m not caught up in the series. I also like the Cat & Bones series. Oh, and I like Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breeds series…hmm, hard to choose just one. :)

As for food…since I live in the mountains I’m thinking maybe some forest flora like knickaknick…works for the deer. :)

  12. pc says

BlackDaggerBrotherhood series by JR Ward is my favorite but there are so many others I love, too!
As for food…maybe I’d feed on orchids

  13. Justine says

I don’t have a favorite vampire series yet. Feeding on electricity would be interesting.

And it’s too difficult to pick a favorite heartbreaker!

  14. says

Honestly – don’t have a favorite vamp series – too many to choices to pick just one! I love the cover of Hunger Embraced. Awesome. In terms of food – how about sunlight?? Wouldn’t that just throw a significant loop for a vamp :)

  15. Cindi says

I’m in love with Cat and Bones too, but also with the Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill. Another author with guts, but time fixes all *ahem* in Chicagoland :)

Emotions is more logical for food, but I’d have to say chocolate would be my personal preference! And Arrow’s Stephen Amell is delicious!!!

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any
problems of plagorism or copyright violation? My website has
a lot of completely unique content I’ve either written myself or outsourced but
it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement.
Do you know any methods to help prevent content from
