Crossroads (C4 Series: Book 2) by Monica D. Pitts-Lack
Declaring war was only the beginning.
It has been a month since Claire Devereux faced off with her past in an airplane hangar outside of Chicago. With fresh blood on her hands, Claire’s only priority is protecting the people she loves until those that threaten to kill her return to finish the job.
Lines are crossed, hearts are broken, and loyalty is tested.
Now, Claire is faced with a choice; the past she tried to leave behind or the future she would die to protect.
What will she choose?
Claire was beautiful in the morning. The sun from her window made her skin glow and her cheeks rosy. I took my hand and brushed the hair away from her face. She shifted at my touch, but didn’t wake. I leaned in and placed a delicate kiss on the exposed flesh of her shoulder. She moaned softly and I smiled to myself. When I leaned back, I moved so I could rest my head in my hand. God she’s beautiful. I traced my hand up the satin skin of her arm, over her shoulder, and to her face. Claire smiled, her eyes still closed. She draped her arm across my waist and closed the distance between us. I leaned in and stole a kiss from her soft lips. Resting my forehead to hers, I continued to caress her face with my thumb.
“Marry me, Claire.”
I felt a smile spread across her lips. Without hesitation, Claire’s mouth was on mine again, passionately. Her embrace grew tighter, like it was the last time we would see each other. She pulled away and we held each other’s gaze. Her emerald eyes sparkled and in those eyes; I saw her search for the words she couldn’t say out loud. She was broken, scared, and trying to protect the people she cared most about. Although she never said it for me to hear, I knew by looking in her eyes, that the answer was yes.
Q: Tell our readers why you think they’ll enjoy Crossroads (C4 Series: Book 2)
A: This is the second book in the C4 Series. It picks up a month after the hangar explosion in the first book (Chance). Things are starting to intensify between Claire and Pierce and her past is proving to be even more challenging. In Crossroads, I tried to pull you in even more emotionally than I did Chance. The suspense will leave your heart racing with another surprise ending.

A: My favorite quote from Crossroads (C4 Series: Book 2) is:
“How’d it go?” I offered.
Sarah had a Cheshire grin on her face as she turned to look at Claire. I lifted an eyebrow in her direction as she confessed.
