Weekend Spotlight: The Unidentified Redhead by Alice Clayton + Giveaway

The Unidentified Redhead

When Grace Sheridan returns to Los Angeles to become a working actor, it’s a second shot at a life-long dream. With some help from her best friend and agent, that dream could become a reality, but at thirty-three, has Grace missed her chance at the big time? Will an unexpected sizzling romance with the entertainment industry’s newest ‘it’ boy shine an uncomfortable spotlight on her life?

Alice Clayton spins a playful and erotic May to December romance in this, her debut novel. Clayton’s funny, borderline neurotic heroine is perfect in her imperfections, and the off the charts sexual chemistry between her and her charming, yet blissfully unaware leading man are the true heart of The Unidentified Redhead. With laugh out loud dialogue and a super steamy romance that will get your heart racing, sneaking around in L.A. and dodging the Paparazzi has never been so fun.

“Mmm, Grace. You sure this isn’t affecting you?” he continued, pressing down on me. I almost lost my balance. He pushed me back up against the door, slamming me against the doorbell. I heard it ring out.

“Coming!” I heard Holly say as she clicked across the floor to the front door.

“Not quite, but she’s close,” he chuckled, removing his hand and leaving me breathless and rosy cheeked.

“I’ll just let you get back to focusing. Call me when you’re ready to finish this,” he said, laughing lightly at my frustrated and confused look.

“Guh,” I mumbled. He slipped into the darkness, but I could hear him. I amused him.

Holly opened the door and took one look at me. I was still against the door with my dress bunched up around my hips, shaking my head in wonderment, looking frazzled and thrilled all at the same time.

“Oh God, the British have landed, haven’t they?” she asked.

I looked up at her, incapable of speech.

I distinctly heard Jack’s laughter slice through the night as his car sped away.

Holly shook her finger at me in a tsk-tsk fashion and went back inside. Seconds later she turned the porch light out on me.

You just lost the power of speech.

Let’s Talk

Q: What would you like readers to know about the book before they read it?

A: I think what I would love every reader to know about this series is that I had the best time ever writing this. Seriously. The. Best. Time. Ever. I just hope you enjoy it as well!

Q: What do you hope readers will take with them after they’ve read the book?

A: A rekindled love of the Golden Girls. An understanding of why it’s essential that you separate your Wheat Chex from your Melba Toasts. And the knowledge that sex and love should always be mixed with a dash of funny.

Q: Who is your favorite character in this book?

A: Holly! Hands down, Holly. Best friend of our main character Grace, she is modeled on several of my girlfriends. She calls Grace out on her business, makes sure that she goes after what she wants, and makes a killer Dirty Martini.

Q: Is there a character who gives you fits and makes you want to go ninja?

A: The character that I hear most makes people want to throw their Kindle through a window is always Michael. But I love the idea of your past showing up in your present, and making all kinds of messy mess.

Q: You may have noticed we like to include our favorite quote in our reviews of the books we read. What is your favorite quote from this book?

A: I don’t have kids, but I imagine that this is like picking one kid over the other! But I think this one best sums up the entire book. Which is really just my 13 year old boy humor on display:

“Why the hell do we always end up naked in a closet?”

Q: What’s up next for you?

A: So many exciting things going on right now! I have a new book releasing this November, all new story, all new characters, same brand of crazy. I am always working on my side project, Not Your Mother’s Podcast with two of my very best friends. It’s basically three women in their 30’s, racing towards their 40’s, and acting as silly and bawdy as ever.
