Sophia’s September Reading Roundup & Recommendations

YIKES!! No one notice that I am days late in posting this ok? :)

Stars (*) indicate recommended reads. Here are the stats for my September reading roundup:

  • 1 – Not rated
  • 1 – A-
  • 1 – B+
  • 4 – B
  • 2 – C+
  • 2 – C

Drink Deep (Chicagoland Vampires, #5)  by Chloe Neill – Not rated
No spoilage here, I’ll just say this wasn’t a bad book, just not what I’d hoped. Many will love it, some will be disappointed. Review to come.

Entangled – Anthology – B*
Packed with short stories from ten authors. The stories center around a Halloween theme and all proceeds from the sale of this book go to breast cancer research.

To Taste Temptation (Legend of the Four Soldiers, #1) Elizabeth Hoyt C
Eh…this has be the first Hoyt book that I wasn’t in love with. In fact it was a bit of a struggle to stay with it but I didn’t hate it.

One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) Jeaniene Frost C+
I love Cat and Bones and always enjoy spending time in their world. This one was not as good as the rest but still an entertaining read.

Poison (Elemental Assassin #0.5) Jennifer Estep B
I didn’t even know this little tidbit was available. It’s told from Finn’s perspective and is a free read on Jennifer Estep’s website. The minute I heard Finn, I was there!

Spider’s Revenge (Elemental Assassin, #5) Jennifer Estep A-*
The final showdown with Mab Monroe! I loved this book!  The action was fantastic, the showdown was up close and personal and Gin’s character is better than ever. Read this!

Dreaming of You (Gamblers, #2) Lisa Kleypas B*
Somehow I skipped the first book in this series. Not sure what happened. But it’s ok because Derek made it worth it. I could just gobbled up every single historical romance Lisa Kleypas has written. I’m working on it right now.

More Than a Mistress (Dudley, #1) Mary Balogh B*
Everyone has told me to read this author. How can I call myself a romance reader if I haven’t read Mary Balogh. Well I did it and her backlist better be prepared to be ravished. That’s all I’m sayin’.

And One Last Thing … Molly Harper B+
I ate up the vampire and werewolf books by this author and was eager to give her contemp a try. This was not a typical romance but really liked it. There is of course romance but the heroine really has a great journey and this book is funny, very funny.

Serpent’s Kiss (Elder Races, #3) Thea Harrison C+
I really need to write my review on this one. I’m enjoying this series but I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first two. Not as much action in this one and I didn’t really connect with the heroine as much. Still worth a read though and it seems I’m in the minority in how I feel about it.

Bad Boys Do (Donovan Brothers Brewery, #2) Victoria Dahl C
I know, another C rating for this series. But there is just something that keeps me coming back. I do love Victoria Dahl’s style and her romances draw me in. Review to come.

  1. You read More Than a Mistress and didn’t immediately tell me?? ;) I love Mary Balogh. I need to get you on her slightly series so you can meet Wulfric. zomg.

  2. Have you read Suddenly You yet??? Have you???

  3. Derek Craven…*sigh* He’s yummy. Have you read Again Than Magic yet? I need to re-read that one. Love McKenna – he’s more of a beta hero than her usual hero. *g* Sebastian, of course, is my all time fav Kleypas hero. ;)

  4. Dreaming of You? *swoon* I absolutely adore that book! I’m glad you enjoyed More Than a Mistress, too. Do you plan to read the second book?

  5. I’m not lovin’ Serpent’s Kiss as much as the first book. Kind of flat.
