Sophia’s October Reading Roundup & Recommendations

October was one of the worst reading months I’ve had in a long time. Not that what I read was bad, not at all. But I just didn’t read much. I listened to several books but actual reading time was scarce last month.

Here are the stats for my October reading roundup:

  • 1 A
  • 3 B+
  • 2 B
  • 2 B-
  • 3 C

Curio by Cara McKenna B+
Oh I love a Cara McKenna book. Two words: Auto buy. This author always brings something different and Curio is no exception. Curio is about a virgin and a male prostitute but believe me, it’s sensual and erotic and intense. Really enjoyed this one.

No Man’s Mistress (Dudley, #2) by Mary Balogh B
I have a new Hist Rom author. Oh I know Mary Balogh is not new by any means but I had never read her books. Now I just want to glom.

Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb A (recommended)
I’ve been so resistant in starting this series because of the sheer mountain of books in the series. But I finally bit the bullet and went for the audio book. If you have never tried an audio book and have been wanting to, start with this book. Not only is the story awesome, the narrator rocks it!

Glory in Death (In Death, #2) by J.D. Robb B+ (recommended)
Another great book. Love the suspense and really like that this series is set in the future.

Immortal in Death (In Death, #3) by J.D. Robb C
Ok, wavering a little bit. Eve’s tough persona is starting to grate on me. Too tough to eat or sleep or drive a decent vehicle. Decided to stop here and pick up again later.

Deliciously Sinful by Lilli Feisty B-
Yay, finally another Feisty! Didn’t love this one as much as the others but still a good read. Tempermental big city chef, organic, homegrown heroine. A spanking with a whisk. Review and giveaway to come

Stay The Night by Scarlett Parrish B-
There’s talk of a llama in this one. Yes. A really testy hero but somehow loveable. Very hot smexin!

Something So Right by Elyse Mady C
Friends to lovers, always a favorite of mine. Didn’t love the heroine in this one though.

Real Men Will by Victoria Dahl B
My favorite of this series. I thought Eric was hot and there is a scene in this book that blew me away with hotness. Yes it did.  Review to come.
Amazon || B&N

Because of You by Jessica Scott B+ (recommended)
Such angst but so good.  Army hero and Army nurse, both broken, find love. Review to come.
Amazon || B&N

Caine’s Reckoning by Sarah McCarty C
This one was weird for me. There is a lot of sexy times, that ok. But I found myself rolling my eyes at the deep insight of the hero. He was just so…deep. But I couldn’t quit it. Weird.

So that’s my month in books. How was your October in books?

  1. says

    3 words: Divide and Conquer. #thatisall. Seeing how I read about 8 times I didn’t have much time for anything else.

    Also really loving the Steve Jobs book. It’s a very interesting and fascinating read about an incredibly complex man.
