It’s time to tell you about what we read and want you to read. These are books we read last month but not necessarily released last month.
Shield of Winter by Nalini Singh ** AMZ * BN * S * K
Really, Ms. Singh can do no wrong in my eyes. Vasic has always been a favorite of mine and this one had plenty of Aden and Kaleb. Total win. Hold onto your butts though because the storyline is exhilarating. Joint review to come with Angela.
Carolina Home by Virginia Kantra ** AMZ * BN * S * K
I love the feelings Ms. Kantra’s writing evokes in me. Her books have a sense of family and home. This whole series was read very quickly by me. Review here.
Truce: The Historic Neighbor from Hell by R.L. Mathewson ** AMZ * BN * S * K
This series makes me laugh. So far, I can count on all of them to be good. The heroes are so bad and can’t get out of their own way but somehow manage to get the girl.
Angela’s May Recs: the short and sweet version.
The Kraken King: Parts 7& 8 by Meljean Brook ** AMZ * BN * S * K
I’ve finally reached the end of my first steampunk serial. I’ve always loved Ms. Brook’s heroes and heroines, but with Ariq and Zenobia she’s outdone herself. This serial was breathtakingly romantic, I would urge every single person who reads romance, even if they’ve never ventured into steampunk, to pick it up and give it a try. You won’t be sorry, trust me. Review for part 7 posted here and review for part 8 coming soon.
Walk With Me by Cardeno C. ** AMZ * BN * S * K
Bisexual Jewish Rabbi who doesn’t know he’s bisexual + sexy young thing with a crush= friends to lovers/sexual discovery romance that was sweet, humorous and mucho sexy. I’m really loving this new-to-me author. See my review here.
Grim Shadows by Jenn Bennett ** AMZ * BN * S * K
Second book in a 1920’s historical/paranormal romance series. This one features an uptight museum curator and the fibbing, conning, charming brother of the hero from book one. I LOVED IT SO HARD. A sexy, smart, adventurous, fun romance that kept me engaged from beginning to end. This author can do no wrong in my eyes. Review coming closer to release date.
Unfortunately I’ve got nothing to recommend this month. I listened to a few books that were meh. Not worth mentioning. Right now I’m listening to The Gamble by Kristen Ashley. I’ve already read the book and the audio book is just as good. Great narrator. So, I guess I can recommend one book this month. 🙂
I read Devil’s Game by Joanna Wylde. I liked it. But…I don’t know. I really like this series but I don’t feel like this one was quite good enough to make the rec list. I had conflicted feelings about it. I’m half way through Hard Rock Arrangement by Ava Lore which started out good. Kinda fun, with a quirky heroine. But it’s leveling out a bit. I’m not as excited about it as I was. We’ll see if it picks up.
So that’s me…in a sort-of slump. I’m hoping to dig into the Wedding Dare series that Brazen is releasing next week. Hopefully they will be my slump buster.
