***Spoilers if you are not up to date on the series***
Thread of Death is a novella that takes place shortly after Spider’s Revenge. Now that Gin has had her revenge on Mab Monroe, and she’s almost recovered physically from the fight that nearly took her life, it’s time to for some emotional closure as well. Gin attends the funeral of her nemesis and finds herself among some serious heavy hitters in Ashland’s criminal underworld. Some may be there to say their goodbye’s to one of the most powerful elementals Ashland has ever known but most are scrambling for a new position in the hierarchy of the of criminal world. What better way make a name and claim the top spot than to take out the assassin who took out Mab Monroe?
This is a brief stop between the end of the Mab story arc and new adventures for Gin her and crew. Based on the action and mayhem in Thread of Death, our semi-retired assassin shows no signs of slowing down and going soft. Too many people want her dead and now that her identity has been revealed, she’s likely to find danger at every turn.
As much as I love reading from Gin’s point of view in this series, I was really excited to find that we get two other points of view in this novella. Having the additional points of view helps set the stage and mood for Gin’s future in this series as we get to see what those around her have in store for her. I feel like the alternate points of view created some interesting layers to the series and reading this novella really got me excited for By a Thread, the 6th book in the Elemental Assassin series. If you need a little something to tide you over until your next Gin fix in February, Thread of Death ought to do it for you. (On sale today, snap it up!)

It’s like the cherry on top of the ultimate revenge sundae. A dish definitely served cold.
