Seems like I have a thing for heroes who like to dirty talk in my romance, in fact I’ve been on a bit of a smut talking glom lately. When offered a chance to review Talking Dirty with the CEO I jumped at the chance. The premise was interesting, a geeky, not so chic heroine who accidentally engages the rich owner of a tech company in some online naughty chatting, which leads to an internet date, which leads to some hot sexy times. Yes, please!
Christie St. John is a journalist for a tech magazine who enjoys her online gaming, Star Trek marathons and tech crazy lifestyle. She prefers concert tees and doc martens to dressing up and likes her laid back life, but still feels like she has something to prove to her society loving family. When her boss assigns her an article on online dating she has no idea where to start, she’s not a femme fatale. In fact her last relationship ended with her boyfriend cheating with the blonde bimbo in his office. After having a slightly naughty conversation in a chat window with a fellow gamer she decides to set up a date and use the experience for her article.
Joseph Ashton is the owner and CEO of a tech company. His ADHD has caused him many problems through his life, but it has also given him the drive to be successful and the restless energy to compete in the ever changing technology industry. When he catches one of his employees engaging in a sexy conversation in a chat room he carries on the role and is quite taken with the naughty girl online. He and Christie, aka Studman500 and Naughtygirl25, meet for drinks, knowing nothing of each other, and figure out that they have all kinds of chemistry. They can’t keep their hands off each other and the evening ends with the hot CEO and the geeky girl having a sexy time on the bathroom counter. What starts out as a one night stand soon turns into an ongoing relationship when Joseph can’t keep Christie off his mind. Looks like the CEO and the tech girl just might be perfect for each other.
This was a cute read. Not overly sexy or angsty, but cute. I had certain expectations going in with the title, but ended feeling like this romance was more sweet than sexy. The dirty talking wasn’t really dirty and the romance was more on the lighter side. I don’t have a lot of experience with ADHD and that was essentially the main conflict between these characters. It seemed a little far fetched that Joseph would let that ruin he and Christie’s relationship, especially after they have already formed a bond and have come to mean something to each other. The excuse of “I’ll eventually grow bored with you and leave you like I do everything else” just didn’t work for me, it felt forced and the ending a bit too dramatic for the storyline. I think my expectations of a sexier read led to my slight overall disappointment. Dirty talking with the CEO is perfect for fans of a lighthearted contemporary romance, just not anyone looking for a more dirty, intense read. Final Grade: C
“You deserve someone richer. Kinder. Someone who’ll never let you down. Who’ll never hurt you. Christ—” he gave a short laugh “— you deserve a man who can at least concentrate for more than ten seconds at a time.”
“But the thing is, you won’t find a man who loves you as much as I do.”
