Lillian Hunt has never truly lived. Always sensing more to the world than is easily perceived, she fears that her instincts are stubborn flights of fancy, or worse, mental instability. But some things—disappearing strangers, tangible dreams, and visits from malevolent creatures—cannot be ignored. Before it’s too late, Lillian is ripped from the only existence she’s ever known and thrust into a reality that she always suspected, but could scarcely believe. She must learn the truth about who she is, the powerful beings that wish to destroy her, and the two men who would die to protect her.
Lillian Hunt works at her grandparents store in a small Pennsylvania town, and tries to live an ordinary life. She was raised by her grandparents after her mother left and her father died when she was very young. She’s always felt she was different from other people, never quite fitting in as she should. When her unusual dreams start becoming unnervingly real, and she begins to see people who aren’t really there, she begins to question her own sanity.
During a walk in the forest she comes upon a danger that she is helpless to defend herself from. When a mysterious stranger appears from nowhere and rescues her, her life is turned upside down and she is thrust into a world where she never knew existed. A world where Sentients—human beings gifted with special endowments—work together to oversee supernatural activities and protect the population from harm. Lily discovers she is special in her abilities and has much to learn.
“You are a path crosser and an empath. Not only astral, but living energies of every kind will be drawn to you for comfort, sanctuary. They will seek to halve their pain, and express their joy, through you. What’s more, you possess the unique ability to progress a spirit forward using your own guiding light. Of all the endowments you could have carried with you into this life, these are the most troubling and rewarding.”
Jennifer DeLucy creates an interesting and fresh paranormal world in Seers of Light, where vampires are evil, ghosts are very real and evil forces are ever present. Sentients and Seers work together to keep these forces under control. However, along with the action and supernatural conflict, this is also a wonderfully romantic story.
Christian, the Sentient sent to retrieve (rescue) Lily is a highly emotional character and at times almost unlikeable. However there are many layers to Christian and many reasons for him to behave the way he does. Every tightly strung, emotional being has a breaking point and when Christian reaches his, it is heartbreaking.
William, is reserved but strong and capable of an enormous amount of restraint. He is a character that is on the outside looking in, trying to do the right thing but full of self loathing. Feeling he has nowhere he truly fits in, he is resigned to this life that fate has dealt him until a twist of fate offers a chance at happiness.
In the middle of these two young men is Lily. While I didn’t always understand her character, I still found her to be interesting and likeable. She seemed to fit right into her new life as a Sentient without much hesitation and for the most part was very practical in how she handled this huge upheaval in her life. Although she is in the middle of an awkward romantic situation, she handles it with kindness and consideration.
The one thing that bothered me while reading, was huge amount of dialogue. At times it became overwhelming and I almost felt myself tuning out, feeling that I was eavesdropping, rather then engaging with the characters. Still, the story was strong, the characters fascinating, and overall I found Seers of Light to be a most enjoyable read.
If you’re looking for a paranormal romance with a little something different to offer, then I recommend Seers of Light.

I really loved Seer's wonderful review!
it's funny one thing I loved was all the dialogue, I love how two people can bring such different things to the same book.
Jenn–I really enjoyed the story as well but was really slowed down by the heavy dialogue. Still a very good read though.
*puts on thinking face* I've never noticed if a book has too much dialogue, usually I notice lack there of.
