REVIEWER: Fiction Vixen

Change is on the horizon at Red Rock Pass whether anyone likes it or not.  The dangers that have been pressing in on the peaceful Sanctuary that Gavin and Samantha have run for years are coming to a head and the people of Red Rock Pass must be ready for war.  An evil far more powerful than the power hungry Alphas from neighboring packs that threatened sanctuary in the past lie in wait and an attack is eminent.

Gavin has called upon an unlikely ally to help the pack fight.  Adam Dubois is a reclusive vampire who has lived for years in the Great North Woods of Maine.  Making good on a life long dept to his friend he agrees to help the pack fight but at a very serious cost.  The last time he tapped his power in this way he paid a great price and now he is being asked to do it again.

Upon arrival to Red Rock Pass the lovely pack doctor Cindy Shepherd immediately catches Adam’s eye much to the annoyance of the very protective Gavin as well as the other alphas in the pack. The interest seems to be mutual though, and Adam and Cindy waste no time exploring their attraction to each other.  Before they know it, the flirting and physical relationship begins to deepen into something much stronger.  But the moment of reckoning has arrived and Adam and Cindy, along with the rest of the pack must stand together to defend their way of life and secure for the future for the Red Rock pack as well as for neighboring packs suffering under the rule of ruthless Alphas.

I’ve always loved the Red Rock werewolves and I admit I was intrigued by the introduction of a sexy vampire into the mix.  In Moira Rogers’ world of werewolves, vampires are not to be trusted and I wondered how Adam Dubois would charm his way into good graces of the pack.  He did it Adam style of course.  He bagged the sexy blonde, tossed a bit of bravado around the place and put out a ‘don’t mess with me or I’ll bite your ass for breakfast’ attitude—respectfully of course. Then he opened up a big ol’ can of whoop ass on some big time evil.  Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about.

Our doc Cindy is no pushover either.  She’s smart, tough, and can hold her own with the broody, abrasive vampire.  When push comes to shove in the bedroom or battle field, Cindy is right there, every bit Adams equal.  She can give an old vampire a run for his money no doubt about that.  And although they are an unlikely couple, that doesn’t deter Cindy in the least when it comes to standing by her man…err vamp.

Sanctuary Unbound boasts one the the best action scenes in the entire series.  The confrontation between Adam and the ‘evil one’ that threatens the entire Red Rock way of life is intense, bloody and thick with magic.  Although I know I’m pretty much guaranteed a happily ever after in a book like this, I admit I had my moments when I thought things could take a turn for the worse.  And they might have…you’ll have to read the book and see.  *g* I very much enjoyed this installment in the Red Rock Pass series.

In case you haven’t heard, Moira Rogers has penned a spin off series based in the same universe as the Red Rock Pass series called Building Sanctuary.  It’s a step back in time to 1933 where it all began.  Adam Dubois was there back in the day and in he offers a little introduction to the origins of Sanctuary when the werewolves first turned their back on the corruption plaguing their society.  I look forward to this new—or old, depending on how you look at it—take on the Sanctuary Universe.
