Rock Chick Revolution is a book I have wanted for at least a year. I waited for it yet I also dreaded the day it would come because it would mean the end to the Rock Chick series. We knew it would be the story of Ally and Ren because the epilogue of Rock Chick Reckoning told us it would be. I knew they would be good because you gotta save the best for last, right?
Ally Nightingale has loved Ren from the moment of their first date that wasn’t really a date. He had just come from fighting with Luke over Ava and Ally took him away to cool him down. That single date turned into one long night where Ally lost herself to Ren. But then Ren made the fateful mistake of saying Ava’s name in a moment of sleep. Ally snuck out of Ren’s bed only to find a very angry Ren waiting for her the next evening. She agreed to be close friends with benefits but knew she had to guard her heart because he would always belong to another woman.
Fast forward a year and Ally and Ren are still together yet not together, in Ally’s book. Ren has been looking for a way in it isn’t until Ally snaps and tells him what he did that he figures out why she hasn’t let their relationship go any further. Ren manages to convince Ally that is was a moment of nothing when he said Ava’s name and that she is really the woman for him and they decide to give their relationship a go.
“You know what I like?” He didn’t wait for me to answer. He kept going. “I like it when you act all badass, calling me Zano when I don’t have my hands and mouth on you or my dick inside you. But when I do, all I get is sweet breathy Rens.”
Unfortunately, they have different ideas about what Ally will do with her future. Ally is a Nightingale and one thing Nightingale’s are good at is catching bad guys. Ren thinks that Ally needs to stay home and be pregnant, Ally thinks that she will open her own PI business. Because of past family history Ren is worried about what Ally does bleeding over into their family and really puts his foot down about Ally’s choice of career. But Ally is a Rock Chick and in this she will stand firm. She knows what she wants to do and will fight for it.
“Ren?” I called. He lifted his head and I saw his smile. He was laughing. “What’s funny?” I asked.
“Jesus,” was his nonsensical answer. As good as it felt feeling his big strong body move on me (and in me, it must be said) I didn’t get it.
“What’s funny?” I repeated.
“Only you,” he replied.
“Only you would get off on me slammin’ some asshole’s face into a table.”
There is so much going on in this book. It is not simply the story of Ally and Ren although that was the main part. Ally and Ren were great together and while they had their misunderstandings I like that it didn’t take up most of the book. They were a solid couple and that is what we mainly saw.
“Baby?” he called, and I looked at him. Oh God. The look on his face was a new look. It corresponded with the tone of his voice earlier that day. And it was so beautiful, my heart skipped a beat and I lost the ability to think. And speak (mostly).
“We’re never gonna have meatloaf, Letterman and missionary,” he said softly.
“Kay,” I replied breathily.
“And if you can pare down that five-year fuck-a-thon to two or three, I’d appreciate it,” he went on.
“Kay,” I repeated.
“Though, during that two-year fuck-a-thon, you may have one, then two of my rings on your finger.”
This book is also about wrapping up each of the Rock Chick stories. There are babies made, weddings celebrated, mysteries solved and bad guys done away with. I had several awww moments and then ones that made me tear up. Revolution was sexy and full of scenes that will make your girl parts happy and then also times where you wanted to smack a Hot Bunch. This book was the culmination to a wonderful series.
“That lost you head for a week.”
“bullshit, baby. I get you breathy and tell you I want your mouth, you’ll suck my cock deep so fast I won’t be able to blink.”
His words made me want to go down on him right there.
I start the Rock Chick series on my last maternity leave so it holds a special place in my heart. It was also the thing that solidified my love of Kristen Ashley. I had read a couple other books but these are the ones that made me fall for her and her writing style. Revolution is another in a line of funny, quirky, happy, wonderful books and while Luke will still hold the place as the best for me, I still have to grade it high. My grade isn’t necessarily for this book alone but for the series as a whole. This book will still stand up as a great KA but overall the Rock Chicks deserve an A. Final grade- A
Because, no matter how old we get, we always need to believe in fairy tales.
Oh and the last words of the book?? Happy dance!!
We’re gonna follow Mace and Stella to Los Angeles.
Cause you can get up to all kinds of crazy there.
