Hope was the homecoming queen, and everybody loved her in her tiny town in Texas. She’s back in town after trying to make her way in Hollywood, and she came back ready to claim her high school sweetheart. But *gasp* he’s marrying her twin sister. Feeling sorry for herself at their wedding, Hope gets a surprise visit from Colt Lomax, the town bad boy whose passing through town on his bad boy motorcycle.
It’s obvious right off the bat in this often quirky book that Hope and Colt have an interesting history with each other, not to mention the chemistry between the two of them is scorching. I had a few issues with this book – like a big cast of characters with the over the top “twang” slang and I felt the story spent too much time in the beginning during the wedding scene dwelling on Hope feeling sorry for herself. But once Colt walks into the room I was instantly intrigued. Katie Lane mixes one bad boy with a troubled past together with the town sweetheart with a feisty streak, and the next thing I knew I had read this book straight through in one sitting.
There’s nothing earth shattering in this book and it isn’t life changing, but it’s fun. The big reveal between Colt and Hope took me by surprise the way the story unfolded to the point I was a little confused at first, but the author worked it out. It also features one of the sexiest non-sex scenes in a steamy cab of a truck that I have ever read. Oh yes it does.
Those sensual gray eyes stared back at her from beneath lowered lids. “Come on, honey,” he coaxed as his fingers caressed the spot right above her knee. “Just a little peek.” He leaned over , and his cheek brushed against hers …… “I promise not to tell a single soul – I never did.”
I enjoyed this book for the simple fun that it was, and I would read more by this author. And Colt just may be one my favorite book bad boys.
“Next time it might be easier, honey, if you just don’t wear panties.”
