Etruscan wolf shifter Kaine Giliati has longed for John Simmons since he willingly agreed to wipe all memory of her from his mind. The pain in her heart is only magnified by terror—the inability to call her wolf appears to have deserted her, as well.
For months after he and his sister escaped a crazed kidnapper, John has been dreaming about a beautiful woman he’s never met but who seems so familiar. A woman he’s shocked to find in a dark bar one night. A woman who agrees to come back to his apartment for raw, passionate sex.
One erotic, stolen night reopens old wounds, uncovers buried memories and sets Kaine and John on a path filled with danger, magic and potential heartbreak.
Edge of Moonlight is the third book in the Lucani Lovers series. To fully enjoy the story, it would be helpful to read the previous two books in the series, Kiss of Moonlight and Moonlight Ménage, as the world of Etruscan shifters that Ms. Julian has created is more fully developed in the previous books. The story picks up after Moonlight Ménage left off. John and his sister Evie have chosen to have all memories of their encounter with the Etruscan shifters wiped clean after John’s sister Evie had been kidnapped and was rescued by Kaine and her tactical team. During the rescue mission, Kaine fell inexplicably in hard for John, who is human and therefore off limits to her.
Present day, John and Evie have moved on and Kaine is suffering some post traumatic complications after the rescue where she was accidentally shot by John. She is unable to shift into her wolf form and is keeping it a secret. She is also still carrying a torch John, thinking of him constantly.
Although John should not remember Kaine, a sexy mysterious woman haunts his dreams. After a chance meeting in a bar, John and Kaine spend what is supposed to be only one passionate night together. However, when John’s sister Evie has a magic meltdown, it seems fate has decided that John and Evie will be together once again. John does not fully remember Kaine but there is something about her that draws him, and the two of them find it difficult to fight the attraction. Kaine knows she cannot reveal the secret of the Etruscan nature and fears John will be repulsed if he ever remembers what she is.
John and Kaine are by far my favorite couple in this series so far. John is straight up sexy and just oozes alpha male goodness. Although he is a human among a powerful race of shifters and magic users, you’d never think of that as any kind of weakness on his part. He is badass and is more than enough man for Kaine who incidentally holds her own in the badass heroine department. Kaine is solid and stable, yet her vulnerabilities when it comes to John and will melt your heart. Their romantic chemistry is smoking hot and their sexy scenes do not disappoint in any way.
I really enjoyed this third book in the series however I did feel like some portions of the story were missing. For instance, Kaine sets out on her own to search for Evie’s kidnappers and seek justice for John and Evie. Believing that Kaine is in danger, John sets out after her. An Etruscan goddess gives John a crystal to aid in his search for Kaine saying that the search for her will not be easy and he will need the crystal to locate her. Then suddenly, John finds Evie in the city, no real searching at all. I feel like the action and suspense that we saw in previous books in the series was slightly lacking in this story.
Edge of Moonlight is another enjoyable, sexy installment in the Etruscan world of shifters and John and Kaine are a breath of fresh air in Stephanie Julian’s Lucani Lovers series.

EH–I love that John is human and totally holds his own with those bad ass weres. His chemistry with Kaine was oh so hot!!
I almost always have physical models for my men (not my women, though) and John's is Sam Worthington. After I saw Terminator Salvation, I knew I had found my guy. There's something about his eyes that drew me to him, that combination of strength and vulnerability.
Sam Worthington? That totally works for me! Although I think I pictured John a little older. But then I picture most of my heroes a little older.
I loved your review. I've been meaning to try this series forever!
BEG–this is a series worth checking out!!
