Bare It All starts right where Run the Risk left off. Reese stormed in to rescue Logan, Rowdy and Pepper from the bad guys and ended up with a broken and bloody apartment. Alice, who has been watching his dog, offers up her couch for him to sleep on. Reese has been attracted to Alice since he first saw her but was not able to find an in until he got his dog. Alice is a dog lover and feels that Reese’s devotion to his dog goes a long way to making him trustworthy.
Alice knows something about untrustworthy men because she was taken off the street and forced to be a secretary for a man running a human trafficking ring. Now she sees trouble all around her and cannot help but try and rescue people. That tendency to rescue has now put her in the sights of some bad people. Good thing she has Reese and his friends around to protect her!
One of the first things that attracted me to Reese was his size. I am not a very big person so when a romance hero is described as six and a half feet I kind of go all melty inside. It is pretty evident that Alice does too because within the first 20 pages Reese has to say “Up here, Alice” several times. It cracks me up when a heroine is staring and the hero calls her on it. Alice is quite fascinated with Reese’s biceps and uh…other parts and rightly so. Six and a half feet of man, yes please. The double bonus here is that Reese is big everywhere, if you know what I mean.
Another thing I also like about Bare It All was that it combined two of her series. We were able to see a connection to Love Undercover and Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor when Trace Rivers is connected to Alice. When Alice was taken for the human trafficking ring she mentions that a new bodyguard appears not too long after she is there. That is Trace and he is the one who frees her and sends her back to her family.
The couple for the next book is already established and I think they will be my favorite so far. Rowdy and Avery are hot together. Rowdy is Pepper’s (heroine from first book in series) brother and a bit of a loose cannon as far as law enforcement goes. He is not afraid to step out of line to get things done. I was intrigued that he also decided to pick up another woman in front of Avery when it was clearly her he wanted.
Overall this is a fun book. The action and the sex make it a trademark Lori Foster and what I love about her writing. Alice is timid at first but really jumps into sex once she gets going. I got some good giggles out her possessive attitude around Reese’s two trampy neighbors. Can’t wait for the next book with Rowdy! Final grade- B
Serious, heated, he searched her face, her eyes, finally her mouth. “I’ll fill you up, Alice. And I swear you’ll enjoy it.”
