I’ve read a few books/novellas by Delilah Devlin and have enjoyed them because let’s face it….she writes some super dirty romance. And she’s good at writing it too. Super dirty and enjoyable to read erotic romance.
But certain aspects of this book just didn’t work for me. A Perfect Trifecta is the third novella in Devlin’s Delta Heat series. Admittedly I didn’t read the other two novellas in the series, so I was definitely a bit lost with who all the characters were and how they were all connected. There seemed to be a mixture of cops and firefighters that are all into BDSM and they belong to a BDSM club. So in the first 20% or so of the story I was a tad confused while I felt instead as a reader the story should be spending time trying to get me connected with the 3 main characters of this book – Craig, Aiden, and Jenn. And it’s a novella, so a few times in the beginning I was wondering when we’d be getting down to business because I was still hoping for some sort of HEA in the end.
The sex between Craig, Aiden, and Jenn did include BDSM, and if you find that enjoyable to read, then you’ll definitely enjoy the sex scenes between the 3 of them. And yes, there’s m/m action too. This isn’t a 3 way where the men stay away from each other. In fact, Aiden brings out a side of Craig that has been lingering there for awhile and let’s Craig set himself free in a way.
Overall, I just felt too much time was spent on other characters considering it was a novella and I wanted it to focus more on the main characters. I was definitely happy with the ending. But I didn’t finish the book thinking I want to go back and read the first two in this series. I think I’ll wait for the next deliciously dirty book from Delilah Devlin to come out, because I know there wil be one. Oh so very dirty.
