It was another fabulous reading month here at FVBR. Here are the stats for March:
15 books read in total
- 2 – 5 heart ratings
- 9 – 4 heart ratings
- 1 – 3.5 heart rating
- 3 – 3 heart ratings
Here is what I read:
Fragile (Rafferty, #1) by Shiloh Walker – 4 hearts
I actually read Broken, the follow up to Fragile first. I had no problems reading out of order. I liked Luke’s story in Fragile, I have to say his twin brother Quinn stole my heart in Broken.
Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between by J.A. Saare – 4 hearts
This was a great debut urban fantasy. That ending…oh that ending. *shakes fist at J.A. Saare* (affectionately of course)
Primal Attraction (Pendragon Gargoyles, #2) by Sydney Somers – 4 hearts
I liked this PNR so much that I asked the author for a review copy of Primal Hunger immediately after I finished reading this one. She graciously agreed and I will have a review on the blog this month.
Spring Equinox (Celestial Seductions, Book 2) by Eden Bradley – 3 hearts
I purchased Spring Equinox after reading Winter Solstice, the first in the series of novellas. While I enjoyed this one, I didn’t think it had as much chemistry as in Winter Solstice. I’ll be picking up the next in the series as soon as it’s available.
Willow by Julia Hoban – 4 hearts
I was a little nervous reading it at first as it’s a sensitive topic and one that’s personal for me. I have to say the author handled the subject matter beautifully and I enjoyed the story.
Moonlight Menage by Stephanie Julian – 3.5 hearts
Second in the Lucani Lovers series, this one didn’t quite live up to my expectations based on how much I liked Kiss Of Moonlight. I did enjoy it though, especially the couch scene *waggles eyebrows*
Dirty by Megan Hart – 5 hearts
Wow. Just wow. I’m just going to say it. Megan Hart kicks ass. The end. LOL. Honestly, this book rocked me and I intend to read everything Megan Hart has available. If you haven’t read a Megan Hart novel, prepare yourself emotionally and do it!
Her Vampire Husband (Wicked Games, #3) – Michele Hauf – 4 hearts
I’ve read the first two Wicked Games books and this one was my favorite I think. Blu is one most fun heroines I’ve read this year. I have a fun interview and giveaway coming up with Blu and Creed on April 8 so be sure to check back.
At Long Last by Shawn Lane – 3 hearts
I gave this one 3 hearts, and I enjoyed it. The romance was sweet, but honestly I’m struggling to remember the details of the story. Darn, maybe I’ll have to go back and re-read. *g*
Somebody Killed His Editor (Holmes & Moriarity, #1) by Josh Lanyon – 4 hearts
Well I finally did it. I read a Josh Lanyon novel. Not that I didn’t want to, I was just lacking the time. But when K.C. at SmokinHotBooks invited me to guest review this book over on her blog I jumped at the opportunity. I loved the book, and I’m told the Adrien English series is a must read. Check out my review of SKHE over SHB.
Silver Kiss by Naomi Clark – 4 hearts
This was an enjoyable urban fantasy. I’ll certainly want to read more from this author. I’ll have a review up in a couple of days.
Tempting the Beast (Breeds, #1) by Lora Leigh – 3 hearts
Here I go again with my love/hate relationship with Lora Leigh novels. I read this because Kindle Vixen generously purchased a copy this book for me. It’s been on my list of books to read for a long time, just never got around to it. While I enjoyed it, I don’t think I’ll read the rest of the series. I’m going to face the fact that I can’t quit Lora Leigh, but I don’t think her Breed series is for me.
Broken by Megan Hart – 5 hearts
*heavy sigh* I quit this book 3 times in the very beginning. Megan Hart writes such emotionally complicated stories that affect me for days after I read her books. So when I realized the subject matter of this book, I dropped it and ran a mile. I was emotional about this book before I even got past the first chapter. Once I dug around and found a pair of big girl panties, I got my courage up and a dug right in. *I loved this book.* It’s by far my most favorite Megan Hart novel to date. I’m still feeling the affects. Honestly I don’t think I can even review the book since there is no way for me to do it justice. I’m just going to go on record here and say Megan Hart is one of my favorite authors.
Heart of Stone: A Novel (Irish Angel Series) by Jill Marie Landis – 4 hearts
A western historical, a sweet and very conservative read about forgiveness. Not my usual choice in fiction but I enjoyed this story a great deal and I’ll have a review and a giveaway on the blog soon next week.
Montana Destiny by R.C. Ryan – Four hearts
A fairly quick read, somewhat predictable but oh I love those McCord cowboys. This series is guilty pleasure for sure. Review on the blog this month.
Nice month! I should read a Lora Leigh book and see how I like it. I have seen lots of twitter talk about her lately.
I'm glad you are no longer a Josh Lanyon virgin!!!
Nice round up! I really need to chk out Josh Layton.
Great reading month hon! And I so agree about everything you said about Megan Hart! She writes so emotional intense books. Love it!
Very nice month! Which reminds me I have to do my wrap-up post too
I definitely want to try Megan Hart's books soon!
For a second I read FVBR as FUBAR *giggle*
I think for Lora Leigh back in the day (2005) her breed series was innovative & nothing was like it out there in erotic romance world. Also, her first breed books are erotic vs more mainstream PNR romance. I think you might like her later books (Elizabeth's Wolf is my fav btw), especially because you read her Nauti series right?
WOw – those are some hefty recs of Megan Hart. Must check her out asap!
KC–FUBAR may also work. It's me after all.
I just wasn't into the constant mating frenzy with Tempting the Beast. The 'throbbing cock syndrome' didn't move me. (see Mandi's review on her blog today for more info on 'throbbing cock syndrome')
What an incredible month you had VF and once more I realize I really need to try more of Megan Hart…*sigh*
Leontine–I have to be emotionally sound before I start a Hart book. She does not hold back and I can't think of anything else when reading her books. LOL
What a good month you had. That's awesome. I felt like mine was more hit or miss. Eh, can't win em all.
I've read a couple of Leigh's Nauti series but I've never attempted the Breed Series and considering there's like 20 books in it, it's kinda overwhelming for me, lol
You had a busy month miss. I thought I did really well this month with my 7 reads. I need to stop slacking :p
Feel free to check out my month in review at Find the Time to Read
