Welcome to What-To-Read Wednesday. Each week our Fiction Vixen reviewers will tell you about a book they think you need to read ASAP. This week Jen recommends:
Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre
I really can’t tell you why this book caught my eye. Maybe it was the love/hate part of the blurb? I always like reading a love/hate relationship to see how the author makes it work.
Whatever it was, I am thrilled I picked it up. Cole Masten is the big time Hollywood actor stuck in small town Georgia. He is there trying to stay out of the public eye so he can win his divorce settlement. While he is there, he is making a movie he has sunk a ton of money in.
Summer Jenkins is a resident of the small town. The town is full of millionaires but she is not one of them. She is tolerated because she has lived there for a while but people secretly disdain her and she is not very well liked.
When Cole meets Summer he instantly decides she is perfect for his leading lady role. Forget they already have someone famous- he wants her. For the part…and maybe for some other things. Unfortunately for him, they do not hit it off and what follows is a very intense and antagonistic relationship. But.so.damn,hot.
It takes a while for the book to get into the full romance but the buildup is so sexy. Cole and Summer are explosive and watching Cole flounder over his feelings for this small-town girl is pretty funny. Plus, and this is a huge plus for me, Summer does not fall all over Cole! She has a backbone! Halleluiah! A heroine who can stay away from a man and doesn’t wave her panties in the air when the rich, alluring man walks by!
I loved this book. It is funny, sexy, heartbreaking and so romantic. Hollywood Dirt has everything you look for in a romance novel. Go buy this book. I am confident you will enjoy it.
Are you okay?” His words were painful and tight, gritted out between his teeth, and I nodded, unable to form words, unable to do anything but worship at the altar of Cole Masten from that moment forth.
“Good,” he moaned. “Because I’m about to unleash hell.”
“Don’t do that.”
“What?” He straightened off the porch railing.
“That smile thing. It’s creepy.”
He stopped smiling. “Ten million Americans would disagree with you.”
“Then ten million Americans are idiots.”
I have to also add that I read Ms. Torre’s backlist after this one. Brad DeLuca is a freaking stud and boy, her other books have some serious twists!
