Rapid Reveal with Amy and Joey W. Hill + Giveaway

Fiction Vixen is pleased to welcome author Joey Hill today.

Rapid Reveal: Joey W. Hill

When I’m not writing I like to?

Watch movies and small selection of favorite TV series – have a huge DVD collection! Usually watch while I do the daily exercise regimen.379747_506670509371425_239066931_n

Snack of choice when writing.

Semi-sweet Hershey’s chocolate baking chips mixed with Nestle Tollhouse butterscotch chips and Cherry Coke Zero

Favorite genre your read for pleasure.

Completely eclectic – futuristic, fantasy, contemporary, mainstream literary – just usually has to be a love story in some way

If you could be a fictional character which one would you be and why?

Abbie Mills on Sleepy Hollow so I could hang out with Ichabod Crane (lol) – he has beautiful eyes! But if we’re talking books, I’d say Claire of Outlander, because she gets to be with Jamie Fraser – not sure if I could be half as brave as she is, though!

Favorite romance book.

Once in a Blue Moon by Penelope Williamson

Favorite movie.

Toss-up between Armageddon and Serenity

Favorite television show.

Justified (right now)

Strangest thing a fan has asked you or given you.

A blogger/reader/friend brought a silver tissue box cover to a signing and had me sign it, since she says my books make her cry so often (in a good way, I think). It was awesome!

Any hidden talents?

It’s like a reverse talent – I’m stunningly bad at almost all domestic skills that require any level of brain power – cooking, ironing, sewing, gardening. People who believe that there are recipes easy enough for me to fix – I have appalled and amazed them by proving them wrong. Lol…

  1. Felicia says

My favorite holiday treat, which most people dislike, is Egg Nog. I don’t drink the ‘full fat’ one anymore, but I do drink the skim kind. I add it to my coffee mostly. :)

  2. Judi L says

My favorite holiday treat is my mom’s shortbread cookies. Only time of the year we get to enjoy them.

  3. Lammie says

My mother’s sugar cookies and my mother-in-law’s shortbread cookies. They are both dead now, but when I make these cookies, I remember good times with them.

  4. Danielle H says

What makes Christmas special is after dinner is done we play a board game or a new video game. It’s family fun time.

  5. Amy R says

My favorite holiday treat is peanut butter noodle cookies. You take Chinese noodles, melted butterscotch morsels and chunky peanut butter mix together then drop small globs on wax paper and refrigerate til they harden.

  6. Lil says

My favorite treat combines food and fun. For Christmas my family does a marathon baking session of cookies and fruitcake. There are enough of us that not all of us can be baking at the same time so we have a running Mah Jong game in the dining room. People tired of baking take over a player’s seat and it is all random. We usually snack and have pizza at various points throughout.

  7. Sarah says

I love traditions new and old; decorating the tree, making a gingerbread house, playing dirty santa and now the elf on the shelf. :)
Joey I have a Key Lime pie to die for (it’s the DH’s favorite) no baking required, even you couldn’t mess it up!

    • says

Sarah, if I had a dime for every person who has given me a recipe with the tag line “even you can’t mess this up” and then I’ve proven them WRONG, I’d be very rich (lol). It is a reverse talent that defies description, right up there with circus freak show attractions and Harry Dresden’s ability to wreak havoc with electronics. But that’s okay – I LOVE dessert, so I make up for my lack of cooking talent with my consumption prowess (wink). You all are making me long for lots of desserts!

  8. Texas Book Lover says

I love making Christmas sugar cookies with my daughters this time of year. It’s fun watching them cut the shapes and ice them in all different colors!

  9. says

my favourite holiday treat is a dessert ” la bûche de noel” can be baked one or in icecream but the icecream one is definitively my favourite

thank you for this opportunity to win!

  10. Leni says

Chocolate pecan pie is one of my favorite treats and this is the only time of the year I get to have it.

  11. Jen B. says

When I could still eat wheat my favorite was Yorkshire Pudding. I’m still working on finding a new favorite.

  12. Lori Meehan says

I love egg nog and if you add Red Hot Damn Schnapps then it’s fabulous.

  13. Karin Anderson says

Peppermint! I know it is much more common now, but it always screams HOLIDAY at me. 😀

  14. Morgiana says

My favorite Christmas treat is a hungarian-jewish cookie called ‘flódni’: cooked poppyseeds+dried plums+cooked apples+walnuts lawyered in a dough (looks like the phyllo-dough).
    Absolutely a yumminess!:)))

  15. Christine G says

My favorite treat is holiday baking with the kids. Their faces are so bright and shiny and we have time to talk about any- and everything. I made latkes in son’s 1st-grade class today and it was a blast.

  16. Steph M says

My favourite holiday treat is a grasshopper. It’s my grandma’s speciality drink and the only time of year she will make it.

  17. Donna D says

My favorite holiday treat —- spending time with my hubby – whether it be at a movie, having dinner (even fast food) out, drinking a cup of tea sitting at the computers.
I also like to go look at lights, enjoy a good chocolate chip cookie, have some soft peanut butter fudge.

  18. Kristin says

My favorite treat is getting to try all the different kinds of cookies my aunt always makes each Christmas.

  19. CassandraG says

Cookies and cakes and anything baked!
Thanks for the chance to win. Nice interview and definitely like Ichabod and Jaime.
