Random Friday: Scary Gift, Mouth Man, Audio Book Blogs and More

Fiction Vixen Friday

Happy Friday everyone!

It’s been a great week. My two youngest girls started gymnastics this week and the gym blasts the AC. It’s still pretty hot here and this is all it takes to please me these days.

I think I’m climbing out of my reading funk as well. My funks don’t usually last too long. Maybe a week or two. Luckily I’m a second chance girl so the books I toss over my shoulder end up on the “maybe later” shelf and I go back to them. One book that’s been there for a while is Liberating Lacey by Anne Calhoun. I know, I know, everyone loved that book but me.

Breath on Embers Anne Calhoun

But I’m reading Breath on Embers right now and loving it. (Scheduled for release in December by Carina Press). So, I’m going to go back and try ol’ Lacey again. I’m looking forward to it.

Amazing mind reader reveals his ‘gift’

I saw this over at Dear Author this week. I thought, yeah, yeah this guy is not that impressive. Seen it before. Wait until the end. It’s a little disturbing.

Mouth Man

Animated Hoodie Shirts…

Someone in my family will find one of these under the tree this year. I’m thinking my hubs…maybe the kids. No…definitely the hubs. You can get one at The Daily Grommet.

Audio Book Blogs

I love audio books and I don’t run across too many blogs that are dedicated to reviewing audio books. Here are two I discovered recently.

Audio Gals and The Oddiophile

Audio book reviews are different because the narration of the book is so important. A bad narrator can really ruin a good book. So I like reading reviews, when I can find them. Audible now lets listeners review books on the site, but I’m glad I’m seeing a few audio book review blogs popping up.

Coffee: Drinking Like A Boss

Beyond Series Kit Rocha

I got a cool surprise in the mail this week. Recognize this badass-ness? Bree sent me this awesome swag from Kit Rocha’s debut release, Beyond Shame. I tried to take a pic of me drinking coffee from it. It wasn’t pretty. Apparently I’m quite hideous in the morning. Who knew? If you haven’t read this erotic dystopian romance, get on that! This book made our recs post for September.

Ok, that’s it for me folks. Happy weekend!

  1. That mind reading video is just wrong. How creepy.

Reading funk? Bummer. I hit one too. The last three books I read were pretty stinky. And then I read Reflected in You last night. LOVE.

  2. That’s some badass swag ;)

I LOVE Audiobooks! I’m so glad you’re going to be reviewing them. I have a 2 1/2 hour commute every day & audio books are what keeps me sane & road rage free! I usually borrow from the Library becuase i go through so many. I agree with you, a bad Narrator can ruin a good book for me. Thanks for the links!
