Hey…you…guys!!! Anyone besides me remember The Electric Company?
Ok so that’s random. It must be Random Friday! Yay!!
So this week I discovered that my six year old has developed a nasty allergy to some ingredient in sunscreen. Since we live in a very sunny climate that seems so unfair. Poor kiddo. But, after a good deal of research, I found a zinc oxide, titanium dioxide based product that seems to work for her without any nasty reactions. Crisis averted. (Yes I realize zinc oxide and titanium dioxide sound like something to be feared.)
Smexy has been on vacay this week and she invited me to
take over guest post. I was super excited. Check it out if you missed it.
Also, one of Catherine’s reviews was featured over on the Borders Blog. Pretty cool.
Speaking of Catherine…
Today I was chatting with some coworkers and one thing led to another and I started sharing horror stories about always seeing the Marines running (years ago when I was in the military) while I was doing PT. The guys loved seeing them because the girls always had great legs and wore those tiny shorts, but what they didn’t seem to recognize was that the girl Marines were few and far between. The rest of them were guys and they wore those tiny shorts too!
Now, you may be starting to fan yourselves thinking about those hot Marines in those itty bitty shorts, but just stop. Seriously, stop. It became a running joke (and the butt of my horror story at work) that half the male Marines didn’t wear underwear for PT. Now if the Army guys go commando it’s not that big of a deal because they have netting in their shorts and they’re made of thicker material. But the Marines–gah! They have tiny little shorts and they are made of really thin material. Seeing them run in formation is like watching the wave in someone’s pants. It’s frightening (yet mesmerizing) and I really have to wonder if it’s as painful as it looks. It can’t be comfortable to have those naughty bits jerking around in there (and scaring the public) for a 4 mile run!
So, my coworker made me Google “Polish Bicycle Team”. Take a look. I dare you. What were those guys thinking???
Sophia’s comment: I like one o’clock dude. Nice form, very neat. Yes…one o’clock dude wins.
In Book News:
It looks like Gail Carriger has a new YA series coming out. The first book in the Finishing School series will come out sometime in 2012 and is tentatively titled Etiquette and Espionage. Three other books are slated to follow in the series.
Publication for C.L. Wilson’s next book, The Winter King, looks like it has been pushed back. Wicked Scribes took the initiative to email the author directly and received the following response in reply.
The release date has been pushed back but no date has been decided yet. I am still working on the book. I asked in January to have the book pushed back, and they didn’t do it until June, at which time someone had already sent pre-order info to Amazon. I’m sorry about the confusion and the delay.
When I turn in the manuscript and have the new release date, I will announce it on my website and social media.
