Random Friday: Llama Law, HEA, Modern Male Pinups, and Book Deals

Happy Friday!! Guess what time of year it is. Llama time!!! Yes, that’s right, this time last year I was molested by a crazy-ass llama at a petting zoo at a local pumpkin patch. I told my bloggy friends about it and the rest is llama history.

Well, guess what. I volunteered to chaparone my daughter’s preschool pumpkin patch field trip and I’m going back. *slips into superhero gear* I’m going to face down the llama. If I’m not too scared I’ll get pics, but I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if I can get past the gate. That llama is a scary beast and despite the fact that I’ve developed a strange affection for llamas in general, I’m still holding a grudge against this particular llama.

Apparently there is a Llama Law. If only I’d had this sign, the whole ugly “incident” would have never happened. I would have know better than to trust an effing llama.

So I totally missed the boat and forgot to include this in last week’s Random Friday post. Have you all checked out USA Today’s Happy Ever After blog? I think it’s so awesome that the romance genre is getting some USA Today love. Several authors and bloggers are contributing including Mandi from Smexy Books and Lea from Closet Reader.

So since I’m getting a new Kindle Fire in November, I’m not upgrading my iPhone to the new 4S. :( But that’s ok because honestly I’m more excited about the Kindle. But, I admit to being a teeny tiny bit jealous of my hubby who is upgrading. *eye-twitch*

I’ve placated myself with the new iOS and a new Incase cover. It’ll do. :)  I chose the shiniest case I could find. Pink and shiny and I lurve it. With the new iOS and the new case I have to admit my phone feels kinda new. :)

And…speaking of the new Kindle Fire that is coming my way this November (did I mention I’m excited?), I’ve been looking at covers for my new pretty. So far, I’m leaning toward the Marware Eco-Vue:

What appeals to me most about the Marware covers is the hand strap. I really like that. The only thing holding me back is the lack of selection on color. I still have time so I’m hoping they’ll come up with something pretty to dress my Kindle up in.

Current giveaways at Fiction Vixen (all ending today!)

This weeks book deals:

Also, have you see this is a GREAT list for upcoming releases over on the Romance At Random blog? Check it out.

So is everyone excited about Elizabeth Hoyt’s new release, SCANDALOUS DESIRES? I am. I love the the Maiden Lane series and I have this book on my shelf calling out my name. I also love this book trailer:

Elizabeth and her sister created this and dammit, it’s funny. Keep listening when it’s over.

What I’m reading:  Glory In Death by J.D. Robb (audio) <3 , <3 , <3, also I’m starting Wolf At The Door by MaryJanice Davidson tonight. I’m reading mixed reviews. We’ll see.

What I just read: Stay The Night by Scarlett Parrish. Hero was a little different, but I came to love him. Review to come.

What I’m going to read:  Ann Agurrie tweeted: If you like @courtneymilan‘s books, try Jenny Brown. I really loved her debut Lord Lightning So guess I’m going to be trying out Jenny Brown’s Lord Lightening.

How about you? What are you reading? Any “if you like xxxxx then you should try xxxxx” recommendations?

That’s it for me folks! Have a great weekend!

I’ve never been one to run out and get the newer version of a gadget I already have and is still in perfectly condition but the Kindle Fire is REALLY calling to me. Hmmm, maybe I’ll trim a few people off my Christmas list so I can buy myself one….

I am thinking my new Fire needs a superstar cover. I like the hand strap but I am going to have to hold out for something a little brighter.

Just finished Holiday in Death (book 7) on audio book, this morning. Susan Ericksen has some serious talent. Even after 7 books I know exactly who the person talking is without even hearing the name. 7 down, 26 to go!

    Good luck with the llamas!

I LOVE that shiny pink cover. I wish they made something like that for my phone. My otterbox is boring black. I tried putting glittery hello kitty stickers on it but they fell off. :(

I keep flipping between wanting the kindle touch and the kindle fire. I don’t really watch movies, and that 8 hour battery does not impress. why can’t they design a longer lasting battery?!?

What kind of phone do you have?

I don’t know if I’ll watch movies on my K-Fire but it will be nice to have the option. I’m just excited to have an affordable tablet. :)

Sprint EVO. I’ll never switch from otterbox though, unless I can find something just as protective – my dad was in a motorcycle accident recently (he’s fine) and his phone in the otterbox was fine but his kindle in a regular case was not :(

And that’s it about the Fire – I’d love to have a tablet! But I’m having a hard time with the battery, lol. I guess I’m spoiled by my current kindle.

Yes I’ve heard the otterbox covers are tough!!

I wonder what the batter life for the iPad is? I don’t travel so the battery life won’t really be a problem for me I don’t think. The price alone makes it worth it.
