Random Friday: Downside Gear, Awesome Blog Titles, K3 & More

It’s Random Friday where I chat about whatever pops into my head when I sit down to do this post.

You all probably know by now that I am a big fan of Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series.  If you missed it I did two guest posts with Wicked Lil Pixie over at SmokinHotBooks.  We did The Top 10 Reasons You Need to Read Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane and a  Downside Inspired Fashion Show.  It was fun and I hope you’ll stop by and take a look if you didn’t already.

Speaking of Downside, I heard through the grapevine, better known as twitter, that Stacia Kane is thinking about doing some Downside gear?  She wants to know what you think.  I’d love a T-shirt with a downside bar logo.  Or a Downside Army coffee cup?  I’m feeling it.

Tori from Smexy Books went to RWA this year and she did a fun post over on the blog about her experience.  She had a good time and I admit, I’m kind of jealous.  The problem is I’m shy to the point where it’s debilitating and events like this make me want to turn inside out and then disappear.  So I guess for now I’ll live vicariously through my bloggy friends and enjoy your pictures and stories.  :)

I’m sure most of you know Katiebabs from Babbling About Books and More.  She was recently published under the name  K.T. Grant.  I’ve read her debut book Lovestruck and will have a review on the blog next week as well and an interview and giveaway!  Be sure to stop by and check it out.

I have weird ears.  There, now you know.  The reason I mention it is I am a lover of audio books.  I love to listen while I do dishes and other fascinating household chores.  But in order to do that I need ear buds for my iPod.  The standard issue ear buds that came with my iPhone just don’t work for me.  They don’t fit and it pisses me off when they keep falling out.  It’s just wrong.  So, I bought myself a set of SkullCandy ear buds.  They were perfect…until they quit working.  *cries*  I don’t know what happened, they just quit.  Whyyyy?  I can buy more and these might even be under warranty but still, they quit on me!  I feel rejected.  Stupid ear buds.

Anyone know why my blog feed is so slow lately?  My blog posts used to hit my Google reader right after I posted.  But I noticed that lately I’m not seeing my posts for hours.  Or even longer.  Do I need to beat my feed into submission or something?  Someone help me out here.

I love clever blog names.  In glancing through my Google reader here are a few of my favorite blog titles:

What are you favorite clever blog titles?

So I did it.  I pre-ordered a Kindle 3 and the cool cover with book light.

Sadly, they are out of stock already and they haven’t even started shipping them out yet!  So, I’m in the queue.  Not like I’m desperate, I do have an e-reader but still. The cool thing about the cover though is the light is powered by the Kindle, so no batteries!  *loves*  I’ll be getting my cover before I get my Kindle 3.  Torture.

  1. I've had SkullCandy ear buds as well and they don't last as long as other ones but I love the fit and they are pretty cheap so I just put up with it.

My posts have been doing the same thing. Sometimes it takes up to 2 or 3 hours for me to see my posts. Hate it! If you figure out why it's happening let me know. Have a great weekend!!

  2. I actually like my iFrogz earbuds. I got some recently at BigLots. You might check there. Sometimes they run a sale, so you can check there as well. So far, they work well! :)

Btw, love the kindle and the ebook cover! :) Hope you get it soon.

  3. PNH–Yeah, see, I need those buds for the fit. You know, weird ears and all. LOL Wonder what's up with the feed situation then. Thanks for letting me know it's not just me. :)

Melissa–I'll be on the lookout of the iFrogz, thanks for the rec!

  4. Your talk about the earbuds cracks me up! I posted the same issue awhile back on my blog. I thought it was just me who had funky ears. I tried the skull candy ones too and my problem with that style is that I don't like the way I can hear myself breathe, or chew, (or sing) when I use them. Anybody else have that problem?? I ended up going back to old school headphones from and old portable cd player I had. Not discreet but they do the thrick.

  5. LMAO Samantha!!! Yes, I hear myself breathing. I'm downright gross too. I sound like a pervert sometimes heheheheh. I don't know, I'm on the search for the perfect bud. LOL

  6. So so so pretty, awww kindle *dreams about it for a bit*

  7. Blodeuedd–Oh yes…so nice. Worthy of some dream time for sure. hehe

  8. The earbuds that come with the ipods are horrible and don't stay in. At all. Especially if you're like me and listen while you clean or exercise.

Those look super cute, so I hope you get them replaced soon. One thing to avoid (just in case you do this) is winding the cord into a tight loop. This can stress the wires and cause them to break.

I'm safe from the Kindle virus. No 3G coverage here and no one seems to know how slow the "Edge" coverage actually is. My ereader right now is my Ipod Touch.

  9. I have really weird ears, too. It sucks! There isn't a pair of earplugs in the world that will work for me.

Anyway… I've been using the Sony earbuds for about a year and they work really well!

  10. I just wanted to comment and say that I use the JVC Marshmallow ear buds. I get them at Wal-Mart and replace as needed (every six months or so for me, as I always wear my ipod, which I think is good wear). The sound is amazing, and they are super comfie. But the best part is JVC recently changed the design so that they block out all background noise — including my screaming children. I can't hear a sound! ;-)

  11. I have difficult earphone ears too :)

The wait for the Kindle… OH, the wait!!! Torture lemme tell ya'.

  12. I had no idea how many people had ear bud problems like me. LOL

  13. My SkullCandy's break down on me all the time too! In fact right now I'm worried it's my iTouch and not the ear buds! I think the SkullCandy's fit best too (mediium size) and like others have said, I'll keep buying them – and they'll keep breaking. I listen to audiobooks a lot as well so I really go through them.

    Kindle emvy – I'm really tempted… really.

  14. OMG I am so jealous!!! You are going to be the envy of all Kindle lovers!!! Hmm, I know where you live so I may have to intercept that package….

  15. Nookie's officially jealous. He wants a cover with a booklight powered by him. I love Nookie, but B&N doesn't offer a very good selection of clothes for him :(

LMAO – you and Samatha totally cracked me up! And you have to know that I couldn't resist checking out Loose Knickers and Window Lickers. Love the name of that blog!

  16. I just bought a Kindle a month or so ago and now I see this one and want it and that cover and that book light! And I could definitely go for a Downside coffee cup, I hope she decides to do it!

  17. I didn't know that Stacia Kane was talking about doing merchandise for Downside. I'd so love a coffee mug or mouse pad…I'm off to her website!

  18. I'm so honored about the guest post and you taking the time to read and review Lovestruck. Can't wait for this week!

I also have the Chess books in my little hands. But first I must finish reading The Lord of the White Hell Part 2 by Ginn Hale. One of my favorite book of this by far.

  19. I always knew you had weird ears.
