Random Friday

This week I went to the eye doc and picked out new glasses. I love picking out new glasses. I hate wearing glasses but dammit, when I do wear them I want to be looking good. Since I went alone I had only the eye glasses lady telling me I was hot and I suspect she worked on commission so it’s possible I’ll look like a total dork in a few weeks and she’ll be laughing it up on a tropical island via the commission she earned off my gullible ass. Oh shutty! More like a total dork, is that better?

Random Friday Newspaper

Why is my trip to the eye doc the lead random bit in my Random Friday post? Because I really can’t remember what else I did this week. I need to start taking notes or pictures or something.

Biting Cold Teaser time:

Biting Cold

Chloe Neill posted a tiny little snippet on her blog from Biting Cold, the next book in the Chicagoland Vampires series. (Don’t read it if you’re not up to date on the series). Oh it’s a teaser alright. I’m still a little mad at this series, but I’m in recovery, don’t worry. :) This little teaser has the feel of the earlier books in the series. So tempted. *whimper*

Hunger Games!! Are you excited? I am really excited about this movie!

I watched this trailer and I feel like they snatched this scene from my head. This is exactly how I pictured it. Sometimes books just don’t translate well to the big screen for me, but from what I’ve seen, Hunger Games-the movie is pretty darn close to how I pictured it. I hope they stay true to the original story.

Next week, Jen will have a great post about books-to-movies, the good, bad and ugly.

What I’m reading, gonna read etc.

Heart Signs - Cari Quinn

I’ve been reading Heart Signs by Cari Quinn. I’ve picked it up and put it down several times because I have a hard time with grief in romance novels. I’m ok if character is well beyond their tragedy with memories etc. but the hero in this one is still dealing with some heavy stuff. He’s on a journey to healing, and getting there but the reader experiences his grief through his letters to the one he lost. oh-my-heart. I see happiness and healing coming but the journey feels sad. It’s a good book so far, but I’m such an emotional whimp. :)

I haven’t decided what my weekend read will be. I’m in the mood for a steamy paranormal, maybe some werewolves? Some other kind of shifter? (no reptiles!) Any suggestions?

That’s it for me! Have a great weekend and be sure to check with us tomorrow for an excerpt from By A Thread by Jennifer Estep and a giveaway!

  1. Loved the tator pic!!

Have you tried JL Langley’s With series? M/M werewolves :) And her books are awesome. If you’re in the mood for a novella, there’s With Love (I totally *hear* Laine – too cute!). Or With Caution or Without Reservations if you’re in the mood for something longer.

  2. I haven’t read JL Langley in a long time. I might need some m/m weres in my life this weekend. :) Thanks for the rec.

  3. The dictator…hahahahaha

  4. I hate wearing glasses but love getting new ones too. It’s like a makeover :)

It’s an older series, but have you read Kelly Armstrong’s Bitten? Love me some Clay, he’s one dominant, sexy shifter :)

Can. Not. Wait. for Hunger Games!!!

    • That is the second rec I’ve had for Bitten. Putting it on the TBR now.

I can’t remember ever looking forward to a book-to-movie this much. So excited!!

  5. Dictator. Classic! Thanks for sharing!!

  6. Love that potato !
