Around December we do our most anticipated list for the upcoming year. But once the year goes by we never really talk about how things are going with those books we really looked forward to. Sophia and Jen have decided to do a mid-year mini series where we talk about some of those most anticipated books and how we felt about them. This is the fourth part of our series; you can read the rest here:
- Most anticipated that lived up to our expectations
- Most anticipated that didn’t live up to our expectations
- Biggest surprises
What is still to come – most anticipated books for 2013
Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews- Once this post is out it will only be a couple of weeks until release day. I have heard things and I *might* have made someone spoil for me. I know that I will need several drinks while reading this one. I can’t wait.
Archangel’s Legion by Nalini Singh- I adore the Psy/Changeling series but I actually prefer Ms. Singh’s Guild Hunter series by the tiniest margin. I think it is because we follow only Raphael and Elena and get to watch their relationship grow. Plus it has been a while since we last had a book that was just them. Ms. Singh has said that Aodhan will be a big part of this book and he intrigues me, a lot.
Shock & Awe by Abigail Roux- If there was a book I would talk about in caps and shouty letters, this one would be it. It would go something like WANT NOW. MUST HAVE NOW. And so on. Nick and Kelly. Sigh. Abi Roux is such a tease on tumblr too but oh it is a great thing the glimpses she gives her minions.
Out of the 4 parts to our “most anticipated” update series, this one has been the hardest for me and that comes as a shock. I’m a reader so surely I’d have some highly anticipated books on my wish list right? But I’ve come to realize I’m struggling with commitment issues lately as well as break-up-itis. I’ve fallen behind on many long-time series due to lack of time or just plain series fatigue so I’m not adding as many books to my wish list as I used to. While I do like a good series, I find myself shying away from urban fantasy and paranormal romance series more and more just because I don’t want to make the long-term commitment. I do have a few series I still follow and look forward to each release.
Biting Bad by Chloe Neill - I think I’m most excited because this series has made a recovery from what I thought was a fatal blow to my love for it. With each new release I get more and more excited about the series and I’m looking forward to more good times and hard times with Cadogan House.
Heart of Venom by Jennifer Estep - This is a long-time favorite series and I don’t see myself losing interest anytime soon. While I don’t have the OMG-MUST-HAVE-NOW feeling going on, I still eagerly anticipate each new release because I know I can count on the characters in this series to be smart, badass and always entertaining.
The Wicked Deeds of Daniel Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley - I’d be lying if I said I’ve been thinking about this release with excitement. To be honest I forgot it was coming. However when I was browsing my list, my eyebrows raised and I got a little excited at the idea of returning to the lives the Mackenzies. So, on my anticipated list it goes.
I’m ashamed of myself for not having a longer list. I know there are more books I’ll be pre-ordering in 2013. I just need to get organized and get ready! *redface*
