More Friday Randomness

It’s Friday My Friends, Put Your Feet Up!

Last weeks Random Thoughts seemed to work out pretty well. I enjoyed doing it primarily because I don’t have to think too hard to get it done.  I just have to sit down and type whatever comes into my head.  Since I’ve pretty much dedicated my life to avoiding doing anything that involves too much work, I’m going to stick with ‘Random Thoughts Friday’ for a while and see how it goes.  It’s not like I only have random thoughts on Friday, I’m fairly random most days, but I’ll try to contain myself to just Fridays so as not to scare you too badly.

On the agenda this weekend for my family:  I’m going to put a bookshelf together with the hubs.  Pick your sides and place your bets now.  It could get nasty. And by nasty I mean scary. And by scary I mean I’ll probably end up hiding downstairs while he does it himself.  Wait.  Never mind. I’ll have review of the whole process of purchasing, delivery, assembly, quality and overall satisfaction on the blog sometime very soon.

Does anyone watch The Deadliest Catch?  If you do you’re probably a fan of Captain Phil and you’ve already heard that he passed away.  I watched the very sad episode the other night and it broke my heart.  My thoughts are with his family, rest in peace Captain Phil.

On a brighter note, Jeaniene Frost @ replied me on Twitter.  That excites me. Hey, this is Random Thoughts Friday you know, gimme a break.

Amazon has dropped the price of the Kindle 2 to $189.  I assume it’s in anticipation of the release of the K3.  If you’re wanting an e-reader now is a good time.

As you may or may not know, Donna over at Fantasy Dreamers Ramblings is taking a break from blogging but she is still keeping track of new releases and she has generously shared her Google calendar on her blog as well as several ways to access it.  Go check it out and leave her some love, this is an awesome resource!

A new-to-me blog, Paranormal Bites.  Slick layout, good content, I’m wondering why I’m just now discovering this blog.  Go lookie.

True Blood. Who’s still excited?  ME. We meet Alcide this week, he’ll be guarding Sookie’s body *ahem*.  Here’s a trailer.  I don’t get it but whatever, here it is.

I’m currently reading the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews.  I’ve read the first three books so far and can’t wait to read Magic Bleeds.  I’ll have a mini review of the first three books on Monday.  I don’t even know if I can call it a mini review, it’s actually just a few brief thoughts on each book.  I’ll say right now, I have been missing out, this series is awesome!  Thanks to all my fellow book addicts for insisting I get off my butt and read this series.

My wish for all authors: [sprinkles shimmery fairy dust and dances gracefully]

I wish for a beautiful website for you all that is easy to navigate with a section for your current releases, coming soon, and back list.  A printable reading order list would be fab too, but now I’m just being greedy.  Also, if you’re on Twitter, Facebook, GoodReads etc. and want to connect, it would be wonderful if those links were easily found on your website too.  If you keep a blog as well as a website, links to both on each site would thrill me beyond measure.  I like to add all this information to my reviews but if I can’t find it I am forced to fall on the floor and cry for a few minutes.  Plus, if I’m blown away by your amazing book, I’m going to want more.  Having a complete list of all your goodies will encourage me to purchase your goodies.  Amen.

I recently came across this website called of all things, Fuck You Penguin.  It doesn’t look like it is being updated anymore but have a browse, it’s good for wasting a little time and you may even giggle a time or two.  It really appealed to my refined sense of humor.  *snort*

Kindle Vixen has a good post on safeguarding your e-book library and how to use Calibe and DropBox to easily back up.  Worth checking out.

I found out that Books On Board has excellent customer service this week. I had some issues and they were happy to help out. Yay!

That’s it for me this week.  Hope your week was fabulous and your weekend will be even better.  xoxo

  1. If putting together a bookcase is anything like hubs and I trying to put a christmas tree into it's stand…I wish you all the luck on the world.

I second your wish for all authors.

Fuck You Penguin…love that site. Hubs and I laughed so hard we sloshed coffee all over our couch. Graceful we are not.

  2. I can't wait for Alcide! I'm so excited (ok maybe a little too excited!) Good luck with the book shelves – usually I start assisting hubby and then disappear as he gets more and more frustrated with putting together the furniture.. or I provide technical support and read the instructions to tell him what he's doing wrong – I'm nice like that ;)
    Have a great weekend!

  3. It was very sad abt Capt Phil.
I don't watch Trueblood but Alcide is pretty hot!!

I need to find a bookcase.

  4. I keep telling my girlfriends "we get Alcide this Sunday, we get Alcide this Sunday!!" Sigh.
    :D
I loved Magic Bleeds so very much, glad you're getting to read it finally :D

  5. Hey!

We've been chatting a little on twitter, but I just wanted to say Happy Friday. And please, please let there be lots of Alcide this week. I've been hearing things about this being the sexiest episode yet! *Drools*

  6. Mandi–Yeah, I think bookshelf building is right there with Christmas tree stands. Keep us in your thoughts. Sorry about the couch. :)

Heather–Yes, I use your method of supervision until I see the back of my hubs neck go red, then I run for my life. It works for us.

Tori–I'm not only sad about Capt. Phil but that whole episode was painful. So very sad. :(

Spaz–I am LOVING Magic Bleed. I told my hubs we're getting an attack poodle. He doesn't get it.

  7. I let my hubs put the bookshelf together and he put a shelf in upside down O_o

I watched last Sunday's epi of TB but I have no idea what happened. That's what I get for even thinking I could watch when the children are up…

It sounds like I should check out that ebook back up thing.

I like this Random Thoughts Friday thing you've got going on. You should keep it up. I like to know what weirdness turns up in that head of yours :)

  8. I adore your Friday randomness post and am glad you decided to continue it!
I think your review of the bookshelf being put together will be good for some loud laughs. :)
Yippie for getting a tweet from Jeaniene Frost, that's so kewl!
And I'm so with you re your wish for all authors!
    Have a great weekend, hon!

  9. *cries* Captain Phil died?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I honestly didn't know this.

PS My Kindle updated but instead of all my Amazon books under BOOKS now under all documents. GRRRRRRR, I'll have to re-organize EVERYTHING.

Change is very scary to me.

  10. Ahhhh, I'm sorry KC. :(

  11. Haha, I was just scrolling down my blogger dashboard and saw the bunny picture and started cracking up! Very cute.

  12. LMAO – loved the Fuck You Penguin website!!! It's so wrong, yet so ridiculously funny. Oh, damn, that was a great laugh. Thanks! :)

Good luck with the bookself building w/hubs. Hubby and I have a pact where we never assemble or fix anything together. He never follows directions, and after the indident where he fixed his car using a q-tip (and the damn thing ran beautifully until he sold it), I've decided it's just best I not know how he fixes/assembles stuff.

  13. You are too much! LOL!!
    Have a great weekend honey!
