By now I’m sure most of you know the way to make a Moira Rogers. (No, it’s not a fancy cocktail) If you don’t, here it is from the horse’s mouth:
“How do you make a Moira Rogers? Take a former forensic science and nursing student obsessed with paranormal romance and add a computer programmer with a passion for gritty urban fantasy. Toss in a dash of whimsy and a lot of caffeine, and enjoy with a side of chocolate by the light of the full moon.”
Ok, maybe it does sound like a fancy cocktail, I don’t know. But my favorite Moira Rogers is the writing team of Bree Bridges and Donna Herren. If you’re on twitter, and following these ladies you’ll know that they are the ultimate in BFF’s and they pretty much complete each other. Or so they think. Mandi from Smexy Books and I decided to get together and put the dynamic duo to the test and see just how well they really do know each other and decided to play a little game of Battle of the BFF’s. Here we go:
Bree, is Donna:
a. Alpha
b. Beta
c. Gamma
Hmmmm. I was going to say alpha, because she certainly knows how to boss me around, but then sometimes she makes me make all of the decisions. So beta. Except if she’s making me make the choices, maybe that makes her alpha? Betalpha? Yep, that’s it. She’s a Betalpha.
Donna said you would say:
Haha, probably alpha.
What country would Donna never want to visit and why? (The why is just for fun, matching the country gets your points)
Oh boy, she thinks I’m supposed to know this, but I’m seriously scratching my head. Oh wait–I’m going to go with Japan. Backlash from her husband and all of our dorky friends making us watch way too much anime. (My second choice would have to be any country where there are lots of lizards. Donna is terrified of lizards. But I couldn’t think of one–Lizardvania?)
Donna said:
Japan. One word – Godzilla.
What is your biggest phobia
Spiders. SpiderspidersOMGSPIDERS.
What Donna said you’d say:
Spiiiiiiiiiiiiiders.
If you could not be an author, nor any other profession you have already attempted, what would you be?
I’d be a storm chaser. The dorky one who runs all the gadgets and electronic equipment.
What Donna said you’d say:
Oh, geez. I don’t know. Something where she got to work from home but do something really interesting. Freelance long-distance dog whisperer? (Except she hates dogs.)
What is your favorite book
I love my Anne Bishop. I think I would panic if I didn’t have a copy of Dreams Made Flesh when I needed a comfort read. Which is probably why there are four copies in the house.
What Donna said you’d say:
I’m going with A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, or something by Anne Bishop. I don’t know any of those titles, though.
Which Weird Al song is your favorite
Tie. White & Nerdy or All About the Pentiums.
What Donna said you’d say:
Hahaha. White & Nerdy!
If you had one day with Ryan Reynolds, where would you go for a date?
Trick question! Anyone who knows me knows that I would dive from a moving car to avoid being within 5 feet of any hot celebrity I like to drool over. I prefer to objectify from a distance! However, if you held a gun to my head and I had to… can we just watch dorky movies and make snarky comments? (I know, I’m so boring. But really, have you ever listened to the man do a movie commentary???)
What Donna said you’d say:
Bree would run so hard and so fast she’d break both her legs in her haste to get away. But if you pinned her down, I’d say she’d want to have beers and listen to him crack jokes. He’s a funny man!
If Aliens came and destroyed all the Pepsi plants and Pepsi Max no longer existed, what is the next thing you would become addicted to?
*sob* I suppose I could try to substitute Coke Zero, but it wouldn’t be the same. I might get addicted to that weird fruity sparkling water that Target sells. Or Diet Sunkist.
What Donna said:
Oh, y’all. Why would aliens come and destroy their own mind-control product?
Let’s talk about your Red Rock Pass Series
In your Red Rock Pass series, which heroine would you be best friends with?
I think I’d be friends with Sasha. She’s a bookworm and a little shy, and so am I!
What Donna said you’d say:
I’m gonna say Sasha.
In your upcoming release, Sanctuary Unbound your main protag is a Vampire. What was the most difficult thing about writing a hot vamp into a series that has been focused around shifters?
Well, for me the hardest thing about writing Adam wasn’t the fact that he was a vampire. It was the fact that he was born in the 1800s but then spent 80 years hiding in the woods. I had to spend a lot of time figuring out how a vampire who’d exited society and only had contact with werewolves would view the modern world. Man, that rough!
What Donna said you’d say:
Probably resisting her urge to write, "Rocks fall, and Adam DIES OMG." He gave her fits, but that just means he’s gonna be hot. The more trouble we have out of the arrogant bastards, the hotter they turn out to be.
–Lightening Round–
What is Keith’s (from Cry Sanctuary) idea of a romantic evening with Abby?
Bree said: Grilling dinner while she makes a pie, watching a movie from his incredibly awesome collection, and then finding out what sort of lingerie she purchased using the satellite internet he stole for her.
Donna said: I’m sure it involves cuddling on the couch and watching one of his MILLIONS of DVDs. That’s pretty much it, I think.
What does Keith rock out to in the shower? (song wise…hehe)
Bree said: Keith likes techno. He probably has the Matrix soundtrack.
Donna said: What does Keith NOT rock out to in the shower, that should be the question. The man’s hardcore.
What is Abby’s (from Cry Santuary) favorite song?
Bree said: Hmmm…I have to TOTALLY guess this. Donna would know, but I don’t. So uhm…can I suck up to Mandi and guess The Killers? (No really, I got nothing.)
Donna said: It absolutely changes based on her mood.
FV: Very nice ladies, you did pretty good on this round. Congratulations and thanks for playing!

My favorite thing about shifter romances is the fur. *g* And, of course the Alpha dominant hero thing.
Fun, creative interview and answers ladies! lol
I'd love to win a copy of Cry Sanctuary.
My favorite thing about shifters is the magical element from going human to animal. I think it would be so cool just to shed your skin and be able to run and be free without all those pesky human hang-ups.
I'd love to sin a copy of Cry Sanctuary!
Alpha males…totally…and the growling that really isn't growling, if you get my drift.
Oooh…Cry Sanctuary…
Awesome post and I'm amazed at how well Donna knows Bree!
I love shifter romances because they have alpha males and I enjoy the various lore authors create pertaining to their shifters.
Please count me in for the ARC Sanctuary Unbound. I already have Cry Sanctuary!
Jeanette–yes, it's a little creepy how well they know each other. It's like they share the same brain. HA! That's it, one brain-Moira Rogers!! Ok maybe not, but these ladies are true BFF's that's for sure. hehe
Alpha Male. Duh! All that super human stamina…nice.
Please enter me for the e ARC of Sanctuary Unbound. (LOVED Cry!)
dyockman–I agree, I love the Alpha male goodness. Moira Rogers alpha are yummy! Just yummy!
I'm giggling hang on a sec – who-hee that was fun.
Hmm my favorite aspect about shifter stories is the growling *demonstrates by growling with her inside voice*
*waves hi Bree*
Oh yes, KC, the growling is always a plus. I love it when you growl at me!
Loved the part about Ryan Reynolds. I'd run too…unless he took his shirt off. Then I wouldn't be able to do a dang thing, lol
Shifters are my guilty pleasure and I don't know why exactly. I think it's the throw-down animal tendency going head to head with the human logic. It's a package that makes for a conflicted character….and I love it when they're angsty

What a fun column! What I like most about shifter romance is the magic.
Since I'm new to the series, I'd prefer Cry Sanctuary. Thanks.
I absolutely adore reading shifter romances…I don't know if I can pin it down to any one factor as to why I love this genre…I enjoy the world building, the innate sexiness of the shifters and their code of life.

My favorite thing about shifter romances is the whole 'mine' thing. I love it! Also the protectiveness is great to read.
I'd love a chance at winning Sanctuary Unbound e-book ARC. I already own and have read the first 3 books in the series. This series is great.

My fav is how the animal characteristics are blended into the human. The growls, the pacing, the stillness, yum. I think that's sexy.
Cry Sanctuary please.
Great interview.
What I like about shifter romances is the sexy Alpha Male. The HEA with his mate.
i'd choose Cry Sanctuary
LOL! I love the whole sexy alpha ALPHA thing, and the in-your-face animalistic lust
I'd love the e-ARC, please–LOVED Cry Sanctuary!
My fave thing about most shifter romances are that the guy, seems to only truly love one woman. Hey, the sexy male alpha isn't bad either.
I just got an inexpensive ereader, so I'm up for either book!
I love shifter stories because I love the fur! I know, I'm odd. I'd love to read Cry Sanctuary.
Thanks ~ Miranda
There's that whole untamed beast who 'tamely' submits to one woman. Rrow. 'sides, everyone knows that canines are loyal, more loyal than a lot of men.
Another great interview. I have to say I love all the Alpha Males in shifter books.
I would love a copy of Cry Sanctuary.
I love the magic of shapeshifting. Would love to win a copy of Cry Sanctuaty as this author is new to me.
I think what I love about shifter romances is the loyalty that the characters usually exhibit toward each other. They are there for the other person through thick and thin, no matter what.
I love to get Cry Sanctuary.
I like shifter romances because of the element of fantasy means that I can really forget real life for a time.
I would love a copy of cry sanctuary.
I heart this interview – I think I need to reconsider my phobia..maybe add spiders to the list
I love paranormal books for the alpha hero's and the idea that there's more out there that we don't know about. I would love to me a shifter I think that it would be awesome.
I would love to win Cry Sanctuary.
sstrode@scrtc.com
alphas alphas alphas!
plus the hot Were sex doesn't hurt either
love this post, FV. Bree & Donna are a hoot.
I'm going all out & throwing my chance on Sanctuary Unbound!
I love shifter romances, because of the powerful, protective, loyal alpha males. I would love to win Sanctuary Unbound.
marlenebreakfield(at)yahoo(dot)com
I love the whole loyal mate thing and that most shifters can't be unfaithful because of it. I'd love to win Santuary Unbound.
Shifter stories are my absolute favorite paranormal reads. Something about the animal characteristic blended with human wants and needs is just fascinating, and most times wildly imaginative.
Plus shifter heroes and heroines tend to be rebels, so they already have that whole badass thing going, then add the beast elements and you have some truly memorable characters.
And for added entertainment, you've got their sexual chemistry/mate bond scenarios, definitely what I consider an added treat.
Would love to win an ARC of Santuary Unbound.
caity_mack@yahoo.com
I love in shifter romances that 1) usually one of the main characters has no idea the other is a shifter and love those moments and later dispute arising from the fact that he/she let the animal witness some things which they wouldn't ahve let in human form.
I also love that usually animal shifters are more loyal, having this one mate for life thing genetically encoded.
I would like to be entered to win an e-copy of the 1st book in the series, Cry Sanctuary.

I really enjoy the alpha male characteristics as well as the way the animal characteristics blend with the human ones. Plus, the whole idea of shifting just fascinates me!
I hope I win the arc of Sanctuary Unbound!
My favorite thing about shifter romances is how the alpha male is very protective of his mate and others of his pack. He is willing to risk his life for his loved ones and for the ones he's responsible for.
I would like a chance to win Cry Sanctuary, please.

As I have the already released Red Rock Pass books on the digital TBR I'd like to be entered for Sanctuary Unbound.
To date I've only read the Southern Arcana books by Moira Rogers but have their entire backlist waiting to be read, including these Red Rock Pass books I keep hearing good things about
I love the dynamic of the shifter world… the secrecy (if it happens to be a world where they're not out in the open), the hot as hell angry alpha males, the intensity of their feelings (anger, sadness, happiness, etc — passion is passion, no matter the venue)… Yeah, I'm a big fan of shifter passion, especially.
C'mon, like I wouldn't be? =)
MamaKitty
I forgot to say… I already have Cry Sanctuary. I bought it off of Amazon.com in the print version (with Sanctuary Lost)
I haven't read it yet because of the hell that was finals. But now that I have a bit of free time, I'm going to tackle it. I was gonna say something witty, but I haven't had my coffee yet & came up blank. Damn.

Favorite thing about shifter romances – Animals in bed. Need I say more?

What I love about the shifters is the Alpha males and the lore behind them.
Enter me for Cry Sanctuary please.
Favorite thing about shifter romances… Definitely the mate bond and the possessiveness in the relationship. I *love* it when they declare 'Mine!'
Sanctuary Unbound ARC, please.
