I like e-books and so far I’ve read all of mine on my iPhone with either the Stanza app. or the Kindle app. I like the Kindle app. because it makes it easy to purchase and read books instantly from Amazon but it lacks features like dictionary and annotate. It’s a free app. so I roll with it. Stanza has those features but I have to download my books to
my PC then “share” them with my iPhone. Not a huge hassle so again, I roll with it. The biggest two drawbacks of reading on my iPhone are size and battery usage. It would be nice to have a larger reading area and not eat up all my battery time on my phone.
I began looking into e-readers and found that I liked the Sony e-reader and Kindle the best. After a lot of back and forth I finally decided to put a Kindle on my wish list. Sincethey’re a little spendy, I figured it would be on my wish list for a long time. But then my birthday came around and my husband wanted to buy me one. Still thinking it was a bit too much, I said no, then immediately regretted it and begged forgiveness. Okay, I didn’t beg. I didn’t even ask forgiveness but whatever. Hubby gave me the thumbs up and I clicked the purchase button.
I don’t know if you’re like me but I like to stalk my online purchases once they’ve been shipped. So, I logged onto my Amazon account Wednesday morning to see where in the world my little gadget was and I found that Amazon had reduced the price of the 6″ latest generation Kindle by $40 the day AFTER mine shipped!! Just my damn luck.
First I pouted. Then I complained. Then pouted some more. Then I remembered I’m a grown up and decided to contact Amazon customer service via email and explained the situation. I asked them for a refund of the balance, store credit or a gift card. Within hours they responded by saying they would be happy to give me a refund of $40 and shortly thereafter I got a confirmation email that the refund had been issued! Way to go Amazon. Excellent customer service.
Now I feel like I have $40 free money! Guess what I’m going to spend it on? You got it baby, BOOKS! I think I’ll get the Lords Of The Underworld series by Gena Showalter in paperback and a few e-books for my shiny new Kindle. Don’t bother me, I’m reading.

I am still window shopping around the e-reader block. For me KINDLE makes me frown a bit in how it is used, I am dependable on the kindle store and their prices…I like to have options since e-reading will be my second way of reading books. I think I will go with an e-reader instead, again Sony with all its cool gadgets and gizmos is not an option. As you see I am so not there in making a decision *rolls eyes at self*
I will say, enjoy your KINDE to the fullest, enjoy the Lords *wink* which shouldn't be a hard task and let us know how you experience the KINDLE, I am such a curious kitten when it comes to that LOL
ParaJunkie-I love reading on my iPhone because I can whip it out anywhere and read. It's a great little gadget.
Leontine-I shop fictionwise.com often and most of their downloads are Kindle compatible. So between Amazon and Fictionwise, I have plenty of e-reads.

I love my Kindle as well… there's simply nothing like it out there, and I don't mind buying only at Amazon, since the prices are lower. WTG, FV!!

I test drove the Kindle app on my iPod Touch first just to see if I would even like e-books. I was hooked from my first purchase. And I LUV finding FREE e-books on Amazon. I'm getting one for Christmas (because I TOLD my husband that's what he's buying me and he said ok haha) and I can't wait!
Ok this makes me want to steal my father's Kindle. He doesn't use it, so it's not that bad right – the stealing? My inner diva says go for it. You are so going to love LOTU series, Darkest Whisper my fav thus far.
Seriously KC, steal it. The pops will understand. Besides, you're cute, you'll get away with it.
Felicia- I've found tons of great free e-books on Amazon. I discovered my all time favorite series through a free e-book (KMM's Fever series).
Samantha, I don't mind buying exlusively at Amazon either. However, aren't you able to read e-books purchased elsewhere as along as they're in a Kindle compatible format? I haven't read up on how to get them onto the Kindle but I thought I read it was possible.
Mandi-I totally want to name my Kindle. Someone on Twitter has the coolest twitter name and I want to steal it for my Kindle but I hate being a copy catter dirty ratter. LOL Gotta think up something equally clever.

You are totally right by getting the LOTU series in PB. As awesome as the Kindle may be, it wouldn't do the covers any justice. And you might get electrocuted from rubbing the Kindle too much. Just a thought.
