Katie Reus Talks About The Best Christmas Present Ever (Giveaway)

Best Christmas Present Ever

Thank you so much to Sophia for having me here today! I’m a huge fan of the holidays so any excuse to celebrate and I’m there! Christmas is probably my favorite holiday (with Halloween a close second). I love the decorations, the music, the excuse to bake like a madwoman, getting to hang with my family and I love giving gifts.

The best gift I ever received was years ago (and no, I’m not saying how many) when my husband and I were still engaged. He was in the Marines at the time and had just returned from a five month long tour overseas. To the say the least, we were very anxious to see each other and I really wasn’t expecting anything in the way of gifts. I was just ecstatic to have him home. But, the very resourceful man that he is, he bought me one of the best gifts ever; a Siberian husky puppy. She was the runt of the litter, had the clearest blue eyes, could literally fit in one hand and had the most badass attitude of any dog I’ve ever come in contact with. Full grown she ended up being only 37 pounds, but she had the attitude of a 200 pound Great Dane—and she had that attitude when she was a tiny puppy. She knew how cute she was and capitalized on it. No shame, that girl.

I’d never had a pet of my own before so I was a bit clueless, but she totally ‘owned’ me. Before her I never thought I’d be the type of person to let a dog lick my face or yes, sleep in the same bed. But about six months later my husband was sent overseas again and let me tell you, that dog was my best friend. She was a total lifesaver in getting through long deployments. Sadly she died a couple years ago, but she was literally the gift that kept on giving. It was hard to have a bad day when I got to come home to the sweetest, loving dog in the world.

Best gift ever received was a Nook that I got from my kids & husband. I love it. I have lots of books on it. I use it a lot, and even my daughter reads some of her books on it.

One of the best presents I received was a plane ticket so that I wouldn’t have to be alone for the holidays.

The best gift I ever gave to the family was our daughter, born shortly after Christmas, years ago. When he first held her, our then 3-1/2 year old son thanked me and said “I always wanted a sister!”

Well, so many of these gifts are precious…and I feel so materialistic saying that one of the best gifts ever was from my hubby on our 20th Anniversary. It was a new car (a Nissan Altima coupe). I was in my mid 40s and had NEVER had a new car. It’s 5 years old now and it is still awesome and even still smells kinda new.

Probably my favorite gift was one I gave myself. I quit smoking after over 20 years (started as a young teen) so after I had quit for 6 months, I bought myself my first Kindle. Now it has been just over 2 years :)

Aww she must have been adorable :-) I had a puppy, she was with us for 16 years, I grew up with her, still miss her. The best present I gave? My little sister was studying abroad and she was to celebrate her 18th birthday alone. We couldn’t let that happen so the family bought plane tickets and we organized a surprise party, she didn’t know we were coming we just rang her bell and she was so happy! 😀 Thank you!
