Jen’s Monthly glom: July 2014 plus *Giveaway* – Juliana Stone!

My reading habits are notoriously random.  One week I will decide to read only Urban Fantasy and the next week I will shun that genre.  There will be times where every book I read stinks and times where I love everything and everyone.  One thing that also holds true is my love of the glom.  Merriam-Webster defines glom as: to take or get (something), glom on to:  to grab hold appropriate to oneself.

My gloms almost always revolve around an author.  I find an author that is new to me and I go buy their entire backlist and spend a week or two reading it.  Nothing can stop me until I am fully glutted on that author’s work.  I decided to share my monthly glom will y’all in hopes that:

1) you might find a new to you author like I did and you can glom also
2) you can share your glom habits so I don’t feel so lonely and cray-cray
3) maybe you can steer me towards my next new-to-me author that I will glom on

July- Juliana Stone

Tucker by Juliana Stone The Family Simon series #1I noticed Tucker on my GR feed because the cover has a James Dean feel to it.  I thought, heck why not and I picked it up.  At first the book was light-hearted, fun and sexy.  But then as I went along it showed some real emotional depth.  I thought it was a pretty well-rounded book to start out light and suck me in by the end.  Something else that intrigued me was the many established and potential relationships throughout the story.  This made me go hunt for more books by this author.  I liked her writing, I liked the feel of the story and I had a feeling I would enjoy reading about the other couples.

This led me to The Barker Triplets series.  These books are the ones that come before The Family Simon series.  There is something about books that feature members of the same family, that I really enjoy.  I loved this series and spent the month of July in the midst of a very pleasant glom of Juliana Stone.  Plus the next book in The Family Simon series, Jack, has serious potential.  Jack is the politician and he can’t stay away from the one woman who is bad for him….yum.  Sign me up!

I love the Brown Series by Lauren Dane and Play by Play by Jaci Burton just like Amy R. does. One of my favorites from the historical category is The Hellions of Halstead by Sabrina Jeffires.

    You are not alone
You are not cray-cray–glomming is a time honored tradition…

…made all the more accessible by the availability of authors’ backlists online.

In the past few months I’ve glommed a number of Lorraine Heath regencies (I had fallen behind!), I read all eight of Jean Johnson’s The Sons of Destiny, and re-read Jennifer Ashley’s Mackenzies. I wish I could read for the first time (again) The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie! Such a wonderful, wonderful book!

I have so many favorites but for contemporary, it would have to be the sisters (and then citizens) of the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis. And for historical, it would have to be the Bridgertons by Julia Quinn!!
