It was a good reading year- as it usually is. My list consists of some of my favorite authors and then one or two new ones.
Crash & Burn by Abigail Roux AMZ BN K
The last book in the Ty & Zane saga and most readers were super nervous for this release. Thankfully, it was everything we hoped it would be. Ty and Zane rode off into the sunset in style. There was action, long-time plot resolution, lots of Sidewinder boys, sexy times and some very sigh worthy moments for our boys. I loved it and I can’t wait for the next Kelly and Nick.
“I want you with me. ‘Til the end. That may be selfish, too, but I don’t care.”
“The world out there is burning, Ty.”
Ty ran his finger down Zane’s cheek, nodding. “But we were born in a kiln.”
Zane grinned. “I’m game.”
“I think the word you’re looking for there is prey,” Ty growled before smashing their mouths together.
Obsession in Death by J.D. Robb AMZ BN K
40 books into the series and still making it on my best of list? Yes, Obsession in Death was THAT good. I have read every book in this series and there are only a few that stand out in my mind. This one will be one I remember. It was almost like a best of for Eve and Roarke. Eve had to go back through so many old cases in order to figure the puzzle out. It was great revisiting bad guys and story-lines of the past. I really enjoyed this one.
“You’re my cop. You’re standing for her, that’s your job. But I stand for you.”
Fatal Mistake by Marie Force AMZ BN K
The Fatal series is one I stumbled across by accident and then my mom told me about it. At first I wasn’t too keen on it and it felt like a knock off of Eve and Roarke. And then slowly, book by book, I fell in love with this couple. Sam and Nick are fantastic, the books are smoking hot and the mysteries are very difficult to figure out. For Eve and Roarke fans, I would highly recommend this series.
“I love you too much.”
“It’s not in my nature to be gushy, so maybe I don’t say it often enough or show you -”
He stopped her with a soft, devastatingly sensual kiss.
“Baby, you show me every day, in every look and every touch. I never wonder how much you love me. I always know.”
Beautiful Player by Christina Lauren AMZ BN K
A while ago I read Beautiful Bastard and thought it was just ridiculous. Several years went by and I kept hearing Christina Lauren brought up, over and over. I finally decided to give in and try one of their books ago. I even went with the same series of the one I didn’t care for! Let me tell you, what a turn around. Beautiful Player and Beautiful Stranger were two of my favorite books for 2015. These books have some great characters who end up as great couples. I highly recommend them.
“Ben,” Max said, leaning back in his chair with a giant grin. “It’s finally happened.”
I groaned, resting my head on my hand.
“You got your period?” Bennett asked. “Congratulations.”
“No, you twat,” Max said, laughing. “I’m talking about Will. He’s gone arse over tits for a girl.”
Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre AMZ BN K
The blurb for Hollywood Dirt caught my attention and I had never read anything by her before so I decided to give it a shot. I ended up absolutely loving it. Summer is a fantastic heroine and I love how she resists Cole up until the last moment. After this book I read almost all of Torre’s books and this is a theme for her. I love it. Plus this book had one extremely, freaking hot sex scene. Oh my.
“Don’t do that.”
“What?” He straightened off the porch railing.
“That smile thing. It’s creepy.”
He stopped smiling. “Ten million Americans would disagree with you.”
“Then ten million Americans are idiots.”
Asking For It by Lilah Pace AMZ BN K
The buzz for this book was nuts and it came with a big, long, wordy warning. Rape fantasy and not a playing around kind of fantasy- it stemmed from the heroine actually being raped. Asking For It was so raw and emotional. I thought it long after I finished reading it.
“You can have neat, tidy, and safe. You can have tame. Or you can have what you really want. But you can’t have both, Vivienne. And I think we both know which one you’re going to choose.”
When a Scot Ties a Knot by Tessa Dare AMZ BN K
Angela is a big Tessa Dare fan and I usually have mixed results. When she started raving about this one, I thought I should give it a try too. The concept of this book is almost too cute to pass up- made up fiancée that shows up unannounced? Logan is a total grump about everything and you can’t help but love him. This book was adorable and gave me happy feels from beginning to end.
“What I’m saying isna romantic. It’s raw, primal, and entirely crude.” He lowered his voice to a growl. “You, Madeline Elise Gracechurch have been driving me slowly mad with lust. For years.”
Archangel’s Enigma by Nalini Singh AMZ BN K
Nalini Singh has several popular series and I enjoy all of them. Of the three, the Guild Hunter series is definitely my favorite. Each book as chapters of jaw dropping moments and they are just pure entertainment. In this latest book there were actually times where I gasped out loud I was so shocked by what happened. So much changed keeping a series that is eight books in just as fresh as when it started. Lately the books have featured Raphael’s Seven but it will always be Elena and Raphael for me.
Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews AMZ BN K
I’m not sure there is anything I can say about this series I have said 100 times already. I adore it. I love every word, every page. Kate and Curran had left the pack but we knew that would still never escape the craziness of their previous lives. This book kept all that action going but, I think, but opened up a whole new future for them. I never want this series to end. It is freaking amazing and one I love to reread on a regular basis.
“Dali!” Julie smiled.
Dali waved at her. After we retired, Jim Shrapshire, Curran’s best friend, became the Beast Lord. That made Dali the Beast Lady. She now had my job with all the pain and trouble that came with it.
“Consort,” I said. “You honor us.”
“Fuck you,” Dali said. “Fuck your shit. I quit.”
“It’s okay,” I told him.
“I know.” His voice was quiet. “I will always be there. I will walk across the whole planet if I have to.”’
I closed my eyes and whispered, “I’ll meet you halfway.”
Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop AMZ BN K
We get one book a year in this series and each year it has been on my favorite list. I read with trepidation but I can’t help it. This series is so fantastic. The Others are brutal and unapologetic about it. I like how they win every fight and nothing can compare to them. Don’t let me down, Ms. Bishop!
For now, he and Meg were going to have the adventure of seeing a new place and having a new experience. Together.
He wasn’t human. Would never be human. And Meg didn’t expect him to be. But feeling her hand in his, Simon thought maybe he could learn to be human enough.
