Happy Valentines Day

Being a romance reader you’d think I’d be all over Valentines Day.  But the truth is, I’ve never really gotten all that excited about it.  Sure, I like to give my kids little valentines and maybe make a special meal for my sweetie, but this romance junkie likes romance year around in small and unexpected doses.  Believe it or not, I’m fairly shy by nature and like to keep things low key. For me it’s the little things in a relationship that rock my romance boat not the expected grand gestures.  Don’t get me wrong, I love watching a well planned creative marriage proposal caught on camera. But when it comes to romantic gestures, I like to keep them private and intimate.

Now, when it comes to my fictional romance heroes,  I like’em bold, alpha, sexy and romantic on a large scale.  I want the tough guys to say sappy things, lose control and fall to his knees as a result of a simple kiss from his beloved.  Oh yes, I like it way over the top in my romance novels. One of the best examples of this kind of over the top romance is The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward.  Those brothers are hard core, bad ass warriors but their hearts belong to their women and they can stilled by on simple whisper from them. *sigh*

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’m guest blogging today over at Book Chick City about my favorite romantic moments in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.  I couldn’t possibly cover them all but I talked about a few.  Stop over and check out my favorite moments and tell me your favorites.

I leave you with this:

“I don’t understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine’s Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.” ~Unknown

  1. I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series! Heading over to check it out.

  2. I've only read one of them so far (and haven't finished) but Sam sent me Covet for my birthday, so that's near the top of my TBR. A lot of my friends love J.R. Ward.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  3. J.A. Saare–Thanks for stopping by here and BCC's place :)

Cari–I didn't care for Covet. In fact I didn't finish it o_O. One of these days I will. I loved the BDB series though.

  4. LOL love that quote! And I too LOVE my Brothers! lol I always hate it that people are like "those books are going down hill" Im like WHAT?!!?? lol I love those men!

  5. Monroe–I admit, I wondered not long ago if I over JR Ward and her brotherhood. Wondered if my reading tastes had changed too much for me to go there again in Lover Mine. After doing the guest post over at BCC I realize I am so not over it! I love those brothers as much now as I ever did. I can't wait for Lover Mine!

  6. Loved your post over at BCC! I'm not big on Valentine's Day either, as it's too much pressure and sort of a manufactured holiday. But I love the chocolates! *L*

    Happy reading!

  7. Alexia561–I'm with you, I don't care for the pressure. *confession* I'm not a huge fan of chocolate either LOL. Small doses for me.

  8. Happy Vday FV!!! Did you get me any chocolate?

  9. Happy VD BV :) Chocolate is on the way…sorta. :)

  10. Just send some through the internet. Teleport it. LOL

  11. BV–Somehow virtual chocolate doesn't seem as good. :(

  12. Guess I gotta go to the grocery store today…

  13. I feel the same about Valentine's Day. I've never been all ga-ga about it either. But I'm always happy to accept the chocolate that comes on that day. :)

    Happy Valentine's Day!!

  14. Happy Valentine's Day honey!! Here is hoping that Ms. Vixen sweeps you off your feet!!!!!
Yea, a girl can dream!! =)

  15. I have to agree about V Day – I'd much rather be given chocolates on some random day than because my other half feels he has to because everyone else is. It's the small, everyday things that matter most :o )

I'm off to check out your BDB post – gotta love the BDB warriors LOL.

  16. Or as Dean Winchester would say: “Cupid? You mean the little flying fat kid in dypers?” quoted from my Dean Day blogpost today :)

Still, have a Happy Valentine's Day, sweetie!

  17. Happy Heart Day! Your Zsadist quote was also one I chose for my most romantic heroes quiz. Love that book soooooo much!

  18. I get more excited giving my kids tiny little V-day presents than getting anything from the hubs :) I'm not super romantical though (yes, romantical is my new word).

It's the little things in life that count…and they can happen any day.

  19. LOL. I'm loving that quote. *g*
