Happy New Year! I hope you partied your butt off last night or fell asleep by 10:00 pm if that’s more your speed. <—That’s me.
2012 was an awesome year for Fiction Vixen and we’re looking forward to an even better year this year. We’ll continue to bring you our opinions and thoughts on the books we’re reading in the romance genre and we’ll continue to put our heads together and brainstorm to encourage a vibrant, robust community here at Fiction Vixen as well as out and about in our online community.
For 2013 our review team is still 6 strong, and running full steam ahead:

New posting schedule
We’ll be making a few minor changes to our schedule this year. Some of this we’ve already implemented but I thought I’d put it all together here.
I’ll be posting the weekly wrap up posts on Saturday beginning in this month. All giveaway winners will be announced in these posts as well.
In the past we’ve done Weekend Spotlights on Saturdays and sometimes Sundays. In 2013 the spotlight posts will be posted on Sundays only. There may be a change to the format as well.
Each week we’ll be posting new releases with links on either Monday or Tuesday (usually Tuesday). This is a new feature at Fiction Vixen that we’ve already implemented. You seem to like it so we’ll keep doing it.
Fridays are fun days at Fiction Vixen and we’ll continue to post at least one semi-off topic post on Fridays.
Opportunities for Readers
How You Can Contribute – Guest Reviews
We love to mix it up and have guest reviewers now and then. Sometimes the books pile up and I invite readers to review a few books on the blog. I send you the books, you review’em. Easy. You can fill in our Guest Reviewer Application form if you’d like to review at Fiction Vixen on an occasional basis. (Sometimes our guest reviewers are offered a permanent position on the team.)
If you’d like to skip the application and just submit a review you can do that too. I can’t guarantee I’ll post it, but if you have something to say and want to use our soapbox, go for it! Submit your guest review here. **Please note, only guest reviews are accepted using this form. If you’re interested in doing a non-review guest post, you can email me or use our contact form to let me know what’s on your mind.
Opportunities For Authors and Publishers
Featured Spotlight Posts
In 2012 we started our Weekend Spotlight feature when our weekend traffic started to increase. It was by invitation only but I realized that we’re probably missing out on some really great books and authors so I’m going to open up the Spotlight form to all authors who would like to feature their recent or upcoming release on Fiction Vixen. We will post 1-3 spotlights on Sundays. We cannot guarantee a spot since space is limited but we encourage you to make submissions. On occasion we may post spotlight posts during the week. I’ll put a link in the menu bar and post reminders from time to time.
In 2011 I opened up the sidebar for advertising to help offset the increasing cost of maintaining the blog. We had a successful year in 2012 as our audience continued to grow and we look forward to continued growth in 2013. ADs at Fiction Vixen achieve good click through rates because the ADs are attractive and target the audience you want to reach. We can offer two different advertising options to suit your needs and budget and basic AD design is available. Request a media kit for pricing and ad specs.
How To Keep Up With Us
Some of you may have heard about Feedburner shutting down it’s API. While Google has not made an announcement on the fate of Feedburner, I’ve decided to be proactive and seek out other options for our email subscribers. I am currently researching our options and will be moving subscribers over to a new subscription service as soon as I decide on one. If you have any suggestions let me know. In the mean time you can subscribe to our email updates via Feedburner and I’ll take care of the rest when the time comes. You will receive one email per day.
If you don’t want to subscribe via email and prefer to get updates from Fiction Vixen via your favorite reader, then I encourage you to subscribe to our feed. Some of you may be subscribed to our feed via feedburner. Since we will be migrating away from this service in the future, I hope that you’ll consider subscribing to our native feed instead of feedburner so you don’t miss our updates once we make the change.
If you haven’t “liked” us on Facebook yet, you might be missing out. I post book bargains on our Facebook page several times a week (usually daily) as well as romance community news and miscellaneous updates.
