Guest Author: Missy Jane + Giveaway

Fiction Vixen is pleased to welcome author Missy Jane today.

One Book to Rule Them All

When doing interviews there are a few standard questions authors get all the time. How do you get ideas? When/where do you like to write? What advice can you give others? The one question that always gets me is which of my books do I like the most? To be honest, I don’t know that I really have a favorite. I read another author’s mention that all of her books are her favorite right when she finishes them. For me I guess it’s kind of the same. There certainly isn’t one I’d put as my least favorite. I’m not the type who thinks of them all as my “babies” either.

Because I’m a pantser my characters most definitely write my books. What this means for me is I don’t know what’s going to happen until I’m writing it. So when I finally get to the end it’s something of a relief. It’s like when I read any book and finally find out what is going to happen. It has nothing to do with deadlines, believe it or not. I actually only have those during edits. I do give myself deadlines every now and again but have found I work better without them. So, to me every book is potentially my favorite…until the next one.

My current favorite is, of course, my newest release Too Hard to Break. I think it’s also safe to say this one has my favorite heroine of all time (that I’ve written). Elle started out as something of a doormat in Two Dates Max. She was the victim of domestic violence and finally decided to leave her abusive boyfriend. In this newest book she is learning to move on and live as an independent woman. A lot harder than it sounds when the hero is someone who wants nothing more than to take care of her every need.

Like my others, the newest release is a sensual romance. It’s published under Ellora’s Cave’s Blush line because there aren’t as many sex scenes as the usual. However, there is still some sex and a very romantic thread. If you haven’t read the other two books in the series I encourage you to do so, but it isn’t necessary to read this one.

Here’s a little taste. I hope you enjoy it!

Too Hard To Break Missy JaneBlurb:

Blush sensuality level: This is a sensual romance (may have explicit love scenes, but not erotic in frequency or type).

Book three in the Love Beyond Barriers series.

A few months ago I finally moved on with my life and got away from my abusive ex-boyfriend. That should be a good thing, right? But now I’m living with Hunky Hank, my ex’s former friend turned my Knight in Shining Armor. He’s great at everything and treats me like a queen. Unfortunately that makes me feel needy when I’m trying to be more independent. When I need to be more independent. So when I started getting vibes of another woman, I knew it was time to move out and move on. So much easier said than done. It’s not so easy to leave behind the temptation of the most perfect guy I’ve ever known. He’s the only one who looks at me and instead of seeing a shattered image, he sees someone who is too hard to break.

A Blush® romance from Ellora’s Cave

*Make reading a guilty pleasure…*

Ms. Missy Jane is the alter ego of a married mother of four who was born and raised in Texas. A few years ago she finished reading a book by Mercedes Lackey and thought “Now, what if…” and a monster was created. Missy now spends most of her time lost in worlds of her own making, alternately loving and hating such creatures as vampires, shape-shifters and gargoyles (to name a few). When not writing, she spends her time reading, taking photos of her beautiful daughters and training her husband to believe she’s always right. She lives near Houston and doesn’t understand why everyone hasn’t moved to the South.

  1. Little Lamb Lost says

I love seeing a heroine get out of a bad deal and grow stronger. Her hero doesn’t sound bad, either. After all, having some help can make growing stronger a less bumpy path.

  2. JacquiC says

Is it just me or is the cover photo on this book the mirror image of the cover of Tammara Webber’s book, Easy?

    • says

Hi Jacqui! Yes, it is literally the mirror image (not my choice). EC uses stock photos and this one just happened to be from the same shoot as Tammara’s cover. Imagine my shock when I saw her book! I was almost in tears as this has never happened to me before. Oh well.

      • JacquiC says

That must be a bit frustrating! Especially since it seems to be the subject of comment here. Didn’t mean to open a can of worms… Maybe they could have played with the background colour a bit more or something so that you don’t feel as if your work is being confused with someone else’s.

        • says

Lol, no problem. I was surprised you were the first to mention it as I expected to see it right off. I guess being that it’s the first time it’s happened in eleven books being published isn’t too bad. 😉

  3. Texas Book Lover says

I agree the cover is the same as Easy. Wonder how similar the story is?

    Thanks so much!

    • says

I actually have Tammara’s book but haven’t read it yet. From the blurb it doesn’t sound like mine at all though. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Ducky says

Hm. This cover looks exactly like the cover of another novel I read recently. Can they just use the same cover?

    • says

Ducky, a lot of publishers use stock photos bought from a photographer or studio who does covers as their main business. My cover looks like a mirror image of Tammara Webber’s Easy, but there are subtle differences. I would guess it was taken in the same series but may not be the exact same photo.

  5. Mary Preston says

I can be like that with my reading too sometimes. The book I just read is a favorite , at least until the next favorite comes along. A tad fickle, I know.
