Mary Ann Rivers, acclaimed author of THE STORY GUY, kicks off her brand-new Burnside series, featuring tales of small-town romance sure to please readers of Ruthie Knox, Kristan Higgins, and Jill Shalvis.
About the heroine: DESTINY
Destiny Burnside is the youngest middle sister, of four siblings, all of whom seem to need her more than the other. Des is the peacemaker, the caregiver, and has been unemployed for six months after a layoff. Worse, her sister and brothers just lost their beloved dad to cancer, even worse, her sister is recovering from a horrible accident.
When she isn’t driving her dad’s old limousine, she’s at the library computer carrels searching for a job and mentally lusting after the artisan woodcarver the Lakefield Metropolitan Library’s hired to restore its atrium. Hefin Thomas is the artisan woodcarver Des has noticed, and who wouldn’t? He’s Welsh, dark-eyed, taciturn and yes, he’s noticed Des’s noticing. He’s noticed.
Des hasn’t ever been noticed, not the way Hefin does. He sees how her keen insight about the people around her has diverted her attention to her version for herself. Getting to know Hefin starts her on a mission to get to know herself, the roots of her family, what her life and her neighborhood and her family mean to her and how they have shaped her. As she takes one step forward, then another, then decides to hold Hefin close as she moves forward a little more, she is surprised at where her life takes her, what it means to her to really live.
