Catherine’s most anticipated Reads of 2012

2012 is here!!!  Almost.  But it’s close enough for me to get excited. ;)  I’ve got a lot of books that I’m planning on reading this coming year, but these books are the ones I’m looking forward to the most.  What are you guys looking forward to in 2012?

*Scheduled for release February 7th*

Unbroken by Rachel Caine – This is the final book in the Outcast Season series.  I have absolutely loved this spin-off of the Weather Warden series and can’t wait to see how it will all end.  Some crazy things happened in the last book, so I know Cassiel will have an intense ride ahead of her in this book.

*Scheduled for release February 28th*

By a Thread by Jennifer EstepEstep rocked my world in Spider’s Revenge with her wrap up of the Mab arc.  I can’t wait to get my hands on this book and see what she has in store for Gin next.

*Scheduled for release March 6th*

Fair Game by Patricia Briggs – I am sooo in love with this series.  It has taken everything that was awesome about the Mercy Thompson series and added a much stronger focus to the romance.  Plus it’s in third person.  Plus it’s about Charles.  Plus we get to see more Bran.  *sigh*  Seriously love it.

*Scheduled for release March 27th*

Bear Meets Girl by Shelly Laurenston – This series is hilarious!  The reason that I’m looking forward to this book so much isn’t necessarily because of the characters or the storyline.  I just know that I’m going to get a wicked funny book that I will have a great time reading.  What more could a girl ask for?

A Week To Be Wicked by Tessa Dare – The first book in this series, A Night to Surrender, was a lot of fun to read.  Minerva and Colin, the hero and heroine of this book, were side characters who didn’t see eye to eye in the first book.  This promises to be a very interesting courtship.  I can’t wait. ;)

Taming an Impossible Rogue by Suzanne Enoch – I’m a big Enoch fan, so I would have picked this one up regardless, but after reading A Beginner’s Guide to Rakes I am very impatient to get my hands on a copy of this.  I hope it’s just as good!

At Your Pleasure by Meredith Duran – I’m excited to have another Duran on the way.  She writes such rich, engrossing stories.  I absolutely adored The Duke of Shadows and Wicked Becomes You and am hoping that this one will turn into my new favorite.

*Scheduled for release April 3rd*

The Duke’s Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley -Seriously, what person who reads this series isn’t waiting for this book to finally come out?  Want…Hart’s…book… *drool*

If I Fall by Kate Noble – I’ve only read two books by Noble to date, but my enjoyment of them has convinced me to keep an eye out for new releases from her.  This one looks interesting and I’m eager to sink into her particular writing style again.

*Scheduled for release June 26th*

Scandal Wears Satin by Loretta Chase -Oh, I love this author.  Her books are always so fun to read.  I recently read the first book in this series, Silk Is For Seduction, and thought it was absolutely excellent.  I can’t wait to read this next sister’s adventure.

Thief of Shadows by Elizabeth Hoyt – It looks like we’re finally going to get the backstory on the Ghost of St. Giles.  If you haven’t read the last book and don’t know the identity of the Ghost yet, I recommend you don’t read the summary of this book.  You’ll just end up spoiling yourself.  I’m curious to see how this one will play out.

*Scheduled for release August 7th*

Two Weeks Notice by Rachel Caine -This series is completely different than I’ve come to expect from this author.  I was really surprised by how much I loved the first book, Working Stiff.  It was so unique and gritty that I can’t wait to dive back into the world and see what this one brings.

*Scheduled for release September 4th*

How To Drive a Dragon Crazy by G.A. Aiken – I L-O-V-E this series.  I practically roll on the floor every time I read one of these books.  Her humor probably isn’t for everyone, but it fits me to a T.  The title of this book makes me think it’s going to be about Eibhear and Izzy so I can’t wait.  I’ve been anticipating their book for what feels like forever.

*Scheduled for release sometime in September*

Archangel’s Storm by Nalini Singh – I love that Singh is taking the time to explore the Seven in this series!  I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Jason this time around.

*Scheduled for an unknown time in 2012*

Ugly Duchess by Eloisa James – I’m really enjoying this series.  The unique spin on the fairy tale usually makes me giggle.  And it’s all delivered in James’s unique style, which I love.

Cold Days by Jim Butcher – OMG, I love this series.  Seriously, love.  It’s one of my absolute favorites.  When I hear a new Dresden book is coming out I drool.  Want…

Guardian Book #8 by Meljean Brook –  This is the final book in The Guardians series.  We’ll finally get to read about Michael and Taylor.  I want it so bad, but I’m going to be sad to say goodbye.  This is yet another favorite series for me and I feel like I have been waiting for Michael’s story since I first met him.

I can’t wait to hear what you think. Based on our immature giggling together over certain things, I’m fairly confident it’ll hit your funny bone just right. Which series are you planning to start with? And are you going to read her as Laurenston or as Aiken first?

Hmm, that’s a tough one. The Magnus Pack books are pretty awesome, but they’re more…mmm, let’s go with the term raw. I like them, but you might want to start off with the Pride series. They’re fun and a little more toned down. Of course I love the Dragon Kin series too, but it’s not contemporary, like the others I’ve mentioned, so you might not enjoy it quite as much.
