Book Cravings – We Has’em

As I was reading Kele Moon’s new release Star Crossed this weekend, I tweeted her, gushing over how much I was enjoying the book and saying that I literally craved her books.  She may have thought I was a little nuts but Kele, being her gracious self, replied that she was truly flattered.

Chocolate Strawberry

Now most people crave certain foods, including me, but as we readers know, books are food for the soul which got me thinking:

Who do you crave?

Anyone who knows me is aware I love and eagerly anticipate the next J.R. Ward, Jeaniene Frost or Larissa Ione release but who writes for you in a way that you are ravenous for another chapter, shamelessly greedy for another scene, starved for another book when you’ve read their entire back list and are yearning for more.  My select authors mostly fall in the erotic romance category (imagine that) but every time I finish one of their books, my Kindle is filled with bookmarks and quotes that have deeply moved me and have left a lasting, hungering impression.  So I want to know which author’s voice literally has you voracious and insatiable for another moment with one of their characters.  I have a few and would love to know yours.

Kele Moon

Kele Moon tops my list.  Her voice is truly unique and she taps into an emotional level with her characters that is nothing short of brilliant.  I was introduced to Kele’s work with her beautifully raw, not for the faint of heart, book, Beyond Eden.  After that, I was hooked.  I would give up cupcakes for outtakes of her books.  I have reread all of her backlist and I’m anxious and on edge like a kid in a candy store when I know a new release is on the way.

Cara McKenna

Cara McKenna is another author I crave.  She has a truly unique way of telling a story that usually does not conclude with your typical “wrapped in a bow” HEA.  She really takes your mind beyond the ending and like a rich, decadent chocolate mocha, leaves you yearning for one more taste. I am extremely excited that she is writing several Curio Vignettes which begin releasing in 8/12.  Curio is my favorite book of McKenna’s and I covet more time with the hero Didier.

Anne Calhoun

Anne Calhoun beyond a doubt always amazes me with the surge of emotion and sexual desire formed within the pages of all of her books.  Liberating Lacey is my all time favorite, however Calhoun can pack every bit a punch in any of her novellas.  When I start one of Calhoun’s books I know I will finish in one setting.  I inhale her books and always, always, like that last gooey spoonful of caramel apple crisp, find myself famished for another piece of Calhoun’s creations.

Ruthie Knox

A new author I’ve added to my crave list is Ruthie Knox.  She literally ruined me for all British hunks with her hero “City” in About Last Night.  Knox’s voice is simply breathtaking and addicting like the best strawberry shortcake with Chantilly cream.  She currently has two books published and having read both, I’m sure I will continue to have serious hunger pains until her next release.

Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley is another author several of us here at Fiction Vixen consider “cracktastic”. We joke with each other about how we are back on the crack again between review books reading another Ashley installment.  I think her alpha-hole heroes are what draw us to her stories and while most of us do not crave that kind of real life male in our lives, she still delivers a yummy escape.

Now, you tell me…who do you crave?

I’m always craving Lorelei James, Kresley Cole, Abigail Roux, Jill Shalvis, Cherise Sinclair, Julia Quinn, Jennifer Ashley… I could go on and on… =)

Great pics Dani! I really enjoy Lorelei Jame’s Rough Rider series and I love Jennifer Ashley as well!

Oh great topic Amy. I have occasional cravings for Megan Hart books but I have to take those in small doses since her books KILL me. I also really look forward to the craziness of Kristen Ashley books LOL. Kresley Cole’s IAD series makes me jittery with anticipation as well as JR Ward’s BDB. I really need more Karen Marie Moning Fever world too. There are more but that’s off the top of my head.

I’ve got to try Megan Hart’s contemporaries! I must be in gut wrenching angst mode for those from what you have told me. :)

Wow, thank you! Amy! I’m so excited to be on this list!! 😀 As for my personal favorites. . . HA HA HA! Most of the ones I will drop everything for are not even erotic romance (shock of all shocks, I know) like Pat Conroy or anything at all from the Percy Jackson series. . .

    • says

OMG Kele-Pat Conroy, Rick Riordan, really??? Shocking, lol and not what I expected from you. I don’t think Percy Jackson can stir my cravings like you can! Thanks for stopping by! 😀

      • says

LOL! Yes. . . Shock of all shocks. . . My guilty pleasure is outside the Ero-Romance genres. . . Though I do love them! So many of them. . . Like too many to name!

But with books like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter. . .I think I love them more because I know i can’t personally write them 😀 It turns my writer brain off and just lets me enjoy the ride!

Kresley Cole!!! And the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I have more authors that I love but I actually CRAVE KC’s books.
And Quinn and Blay’s book. I have been craving that one for a while now.

Recently, I’ve realized that my list has altered somewhat. The more self-published authors I’ve been reading, the more crazy I get about their next book. They just come out so much faster and I get so happy! *squee!*

    Most recently:
Elle Casey, Bonnie Lamer, Keri Arthur, H. P. Mallory, Jeaniene Frost and Deborah Harkness (super giddy…can’t sleep!)…but the list goes on! I am going to check out some of these squee-worthy authors! Can’t wait! :)

  6. says

Hmm, authors I will drop everything for? Jeaniene Frost, Kristen Ashley, Nalini Singh, Karen Marie Mining, Allyson James/Jennifer Ashley, Lisa Kleypas….just off the top of my head.

  7. says

I follow and love lots of great authors, but some of the ones I drop everything else for, are: Bertrice Small, Christine Feehan, Yasmine Galenorn, Laurell K. Hamilton.

My problem is that I tend to find books I love and then… never finish their series. I guess I’m afraid that if I do there won’t be any good books anymore? I don’t even know. but I’ve loved every Nalini Singh book I’ve ever read, (three of them, for shame!) and I need to read Kresley Cole because I think I would love her, too. As for authors I crave, just lately it’s Ava March. I devoured her Brook Street series and then gobbled up several of her other M/M historical novellas. Lauren Dane’s erotic sci-fi is also something I want more of, and I loved Joelly Sue Burkhart’s latest. At least with those two, I’ve got more to read, though as I can go diving through the backlists.
