Caridad Pineiro

When I thought about my guest post at Fiction Vixen (and thank you so much for having me here), I wondered what could I tell you about AMAZON AWAKENING?

Well for starters, it’s my very first erotic paranormal romance. Wow. Very first.

There is something special about firsts. So I thought I’d share some firsts that I won’t forget.

First love. My hubby. We met in college and it was love at first site.

First friend. My sister. She couldn’t say my name, so she called me “Cherry” for a few years.

First moment my heart went Ohhhh and stopped beating. The day my daughter brushed her hand across my face as I was feeding her.

First book: Now and Always. Will always have a special place in my heart.

Amazon AwakeningI’d love to hear some of your “firsts” that you remember. As for me, as always remember AMAZON AWAKENING as my first erotic romance because it was soooo different from anything I have done before.

Sure, I’ve written sexy. Those of you who are fans know I do sexy. But erotic is a whole different creature. It’s much more daring and edgy. Much more demanding as a writer in some ways, mainly because for me the story still had to have a romantic arc.

I still wanted to see that first spark — okay – let’s be honest here – inferno of attraction and see where it led as the hero and heroine got to know each other better.

The hard part with AMAZON AWAKENING was that since it was a novella, that inferno leading to very intimate and sensual situations had to happen quickly.

I didn’t know what to expect as I had by-the-book lawyer Paola Lopes taking off to the Amazon with sexy Rey Peralta. What I discovered was a whole new side to my writing and to the growth of the relationships between the characters. I learned that because of the nature of the intimacy, there had to be an immediate and much deeper level of trust between the two partners. Trust and respect.

In a regular romance, that takes time, but in a shorter work, that trust, respect and love had to develop much more quickly and in this story it was not without complications.

Did I mention that Rey wants Paola to give up her life in New York City to take up the leadership of the Guardians, a race that is honor-bound to protect a sacred space deep in the Amazon? Can we say conflict much?

But despite that conflict, love does develop between Rey and Paola and I hope you will take a moment to check it out and celebrate this first with me!

Thank you all for taking the time to drop by! Share your memorable firsts for a chance to win a LOST T-shirt and ARC of THE CLAIMED, the second book in the SIN HUNTER series which will be out in paperback in May 2012. Ends Jan 1, winners announced next week.

Amazon Awakening sounds like an amazing read. I’m going to have to pick it up to see how you did manage the erotic aspects with the romance with the plot. I’m attempting my first erotic paranormal romance right now and it’s certainly a challenge.

By the way, what a beautiful list of firsts.

Un Buon Ano Prospero en 2012!

Congrats, Diane. That is quite an accomplishment. My first impression of my daughter is kind of vague since the doctor accidentally knocked me out. It was a blur, but there was something about that first unexpected touch…Children are a miracle.

Amazon Awakening sounds good. Love your firsts list. My first memory is sitting in the floor looking up at my mom. She was wearing a pink checked shirt and jeans.

Sounds like an amazing read and thank you for the opportunity to win one of your books! I too have the “beautiful firsts”….. children being born and seeing their faces for the very first time!
Also when my husband proposed, that was the first time I cried in front of him. Thinking back to my childhood, I remember the first book that made me happy and sad at the same time was “The Velveteen Rabbit.”

The book sounds great. Thanks for the chance to win a copy. Aren’t ” firsts” wonderful?you never forget them. I’d have to say my biggest one was holding my newborn son while he nursed for the first time and just looking at every inch of him and realizing he had my feet and his Dad’s hands. So beautiful.

This book sounds great and would love to win and read. Caridad is a new author for me and always looking for new authors to check out.
My favorite first was when I had my daughter. It was very memorable because she decided to come early. She was born 2 months premature. My water broke and held her off for 1 week and then she decided she was ready. She was only 3lbs & 1/2 oz when she was born. She had no problems other than she was so little. She is now normal weight, but really tall for her age.
Thanks for the chance to win.

When I went on my first date with my husband, we went to the movies and everything was great. When he brought me home, we kissed good night. I was getting out of his truck and he goosed me. i jumped and spun around to ask him what he was doing. It had been raining for days and when I turned around, I slipped and slid down the hill by our driveway.I was wearing shoulder to feet mud! Talk about an embarrassing first date! Thanks for the giveaway!

Oh no! Hubby and I went to college together and I had a similar experience. We were walking to class on a snowy (and icy) day. One moment I was walking beside him and the next . . . I was on my butt!! Somehow I survived that embarrassing moment.

I remember my youngest brother coming home from the hospital. I was only three but I remember that I wanted to hold him. I still do. He is a great hugger…a gentle giant.
Thank you for a great contest.
I hope you have a wonderful New Year!

I remember the first time I went to the ocean and stepped in. It was a wonderfully sunny day in October in LA. The water felt so good and it was so relaxing. I’m excited to read your book! :)

Great post. I cant wait to read The Claimed.

I guess mine is really when I moved out. I just didnt move locally I went a full 6 hours away, by myself. Which I know a lot of people do when they go to college. But it was completely unlike anything I had ever done before.
