The reviewers at Fiction Vixen will be posting their most anticipated books for 2012 this week.
I am notoriously bad at keeping track of what’s coming up beyond the next month in the romance bookish world. I depend on my friends on twitter and various blogs in the community to keep me up to date and on edge for the latest and greatest reads. In fact, I kind of roll like that in all aspects of life. Don’t judge!
So I skimmed over my Goodreads shelves and gracefully surfed around the blogosphere looking for reminders of what I’m looking forward to. Again, don’t judge, I’m a follower. Now that I’m all jittery and excited, here are (some) of my most anticipated reads for 2012 in no particular order:
Lothaire by Kresley Cole (1/10/12)
I love Lothaire. I tend to love the super scary, arrogant heroes *cough Barrons cough* and Lothaire is one of my favorite IAD characters. I simply cannot wait for his books. *squee*
“And speaking of females, if I call you by one’s name while my fangs are plunged deep in your neck, just run with it”.
Lothaire—Dreams of a Dark Warrior
Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward (3/27/12)
It’s a Black Dagger Brotherhood book. Duh. But what’s even better is it’s Tohr’s HEA I hope. I’m so nervous about this one. I’m in the “still mourning Wellsie” camp so Ward is going to have to convince me. I’m already emotional.
Sacrificial Magic by Stacia Kane (3/27/12)
I love me some Terrible. I need me some Terrible. That is all.
Thief of Shadows (Maiden Lane, #4) by Elizabeth Hoyt (6/26/12)
I didn’t realize how excited I would be about this book until the end of Scandalous Desires. I love the Maiden Lane series and I am sooo intrigued about a certain character. I can’t wait!!!
Iced by Karen Marie Moning (10/30/12)
You all know how I feel about the Fever series. I’m not the biggest Dani fan but if anyone can convince me, it’s Karen Marie Moning.
Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost (6/26/12)
Vlad. Need I say more?
By a Thread by Jennifer Estep (2/28/12)
This series continues to be one of my favorite UF series. So glad to see Gin moving on to more adventures after kicking the shit out of Mab.
What’s on your MUST READ list for 2012?
Oh, Vlad, how I love you. I can’t wait to hear his story!
Everyone seems to be looking forward to Iced. I need to bite the bullet and read the Fever series. What, like I’m the only one left who hasn’t read it? Don’t judge.
I loved the Lothaire quote! I had forgotten about that. LOL. I’m going to be reading the last release in the IAD series soon so I can be ready for his book.
You might have some problems with the Fever series based on what I know of your reading tastes on other books. Mac and Barrons are not your typical romantic UF series h/h. The series is not all that romantic in the early stages either. But it’s awesome. <3
I read the first book many, many years ago. I don’t remember much about it, but I do remember how irritating I found the heroine. I’ve heard she gets better, though, so I’m determined to try again.
LOL Yes, that is exactly why I thought you might not like the first book! But she really grows and does a transformation throughout the series though. It’s gradual and believable because she goes thought hell.
Mac didn’t irritate me because I realized early on she was immature and self centered but would be facing big stuff. I knew she would grow. I hope you decide to read it and enjoy the series as much as I did.
I bought the first three books at the same time, because I liked most of KMM’s other stuff, so I’ll give them a try one of these days since they’re on hand. Maybe in 2012 since I’m determined to whittle down my TBR books.
Mac didn’t bother me so much either. I knew it was all about her journey. And frankly once barrons entered the picture I could take any amount of Mac as long as barrons was in the scene.
These books are must reads, IMO.
Good point. Mac who? lol
LOL!
I remember being so frustrated with the Fever series since I am a romantic at heart with my books. But I kept on reading them and OMG Barrons *shudders and moans* So glad to have stuck with that one!
Can you believe I have not read the IAD series yet? I need to figure out which book is the first one and start on those pronto!
And Tohr….sigh…my favorite brother…How I crave his story and my name on his back…He has always been my favorite..CANNOT WAIT!
Yeah I’m glad I stuck with it too (Fever series). Mac made quite a transformation over the course of the series. It was gradual but she was still Mac at the end. And Barrons…Constant Jackass LOL. <3
You NEED to read the IAD series. Although the first book had a few creepy scenes in it. Don’t let that put you off though. It’s a great PNR series. I’m addicted!!
Your name on Tohr’s back LOL. I hope his HEA is awesome and the two of you will be very happy indeed.
I thought the first (full length) book was a little creepy too. :\ Wicked Deeds on a Winter’s Night was where the series really started clicking for me.
Yeah, it was totally creepy. The shower scene still makes me shudder a little bit. I LOVED Wicked Deeds. LOVED.
I was totally underplaying it when I said it was a little creepy. Because it was a lot creepy, to be honest. The shower scene freaked me out. *shudder*
Yeah, you’re right. A lot creepy LOL.
All great books I can’t wait to get my hands on, 2012 is looking like a great literary year!
I am confident Moning will transform Dani into a character I love nearly as much as she did for Mac.
I can’t remember how old Dani is at the end of Shadowfever but I’m pretty sure she was young, maybe 14?. I like romance in my UF but I don’t see how this can happen with Dani being so young. From what I understand, her series picks up right after SF right? I’m skeptical but hopeful about this one.
Crazy how all of our lists are quite similar. I agree with your excellent choices!
I think yours and mine are the most similar.
Great minds and all that!
I’m with you for JR Ward, Tohr’s story needs to be EPIC!
I’m ready!! Bring it Ward!!!
OMG, how could I forget Vlad! Yes, I so want that book! And of course Lover Reborn made my list. Gaaaaaaaaaaaa that book is gonna be killer!!!
I know, sup with that? You’re just trying to get Vlad attention by playing hard to get aren’t? Uh huh. lol
Great list! I have everyone of those on my list.
I’ve see a few of these on your “I will beat you down for this book” shelf at goodreads. I stalk that shelf by the way.
Vlad is getting his own book?! I may pick up another Frost book for that reason alone. I’ve been interested in reading the off-shoots anyway, though I think I’m done with Cat and Bones.
And after reading your Fever reviews, I really need to get on those!
YES to every single one. *grabby hands*
Sacrificial Magic is on my list too. For the same reason…..need more Terrible.
I’m also looking forward to Endgame by Ann Aguirre.
Happy New Year!
