The ladies at Fiction Vixen are fans of Jill Shalvis’s Animal Magnetism series but no one is a bigger fan than Jen. Here is what she has to say about why she loves the series:
One of the things reasons I first picked up Jill Shalvis’ Animal Magnetism series is well….because of the animals! A series centered around a small town vet practice, the local kennel and search and rescue dogs has something to appeal to everyone. Not to mention some pretty great romances. Take a look at some of the examples!
Animal Magnetism (book 1) – Kennel owner Lilah, the heroine, opens up the book with two puppies , a potbellied pig and very noisy mallard duck in her car. How can rescue pilot Brady Miller not fall for her?
Animal Attraction (book 2) – Veterinarian Dell Connelly is our very sexy hero. He has a way with animals and with the heroine, Jade. Add in a sweet kitten, Beans, who Jade cannot help but fall for and Gertie, Dell’s dog you get a whole lot of sigh worthy moments.
“Boner,” Peanut said.
“Oh no,” Jade said to the parrot. “No, no, no…you can’t say-“
“Oh God” Jade panicked. “Peanut-”
“Pretty bird,” Dell broke in, smiling at the parrot and speaking low and soft. “Such a pretty girl, Peanut.”
Peanut preened under his admiring tone. “Pretty Peanut.”
Rescue My Heart (book 3) – Adam Connelly has come home to Belle Haven Animal Center to be with his brothers and finds his old love Holly in the process. Adam uses the vet practice, Holly and his very adorable dog Milo to recover from PTSD and set up a new life.
Rumor Has It (book 4) – One more wonderful couple in this series finds love and it all centers around animals. Griffin and Kate are connected to previous characters but end up in Sunshine, Idaho. The best part about this book is all the fun animal facts we learn. 😉
“The first contraceptive was crocodile dung,” she whispered. “The Egyptians used it in 2000 BC.”
“You say the sexiest things,” he said, and gently sank his teeth into her earlobe.
Then Came You (book 5) – One veterinary intern and one hot night with a man she met at a conference is the theme for this book. Too bad for her that man turns out to be her boss!
Wyatt should’ve looked ridiculous sitting on the floor, leaning into the crate making
kissykiss noises at the cat, but he didn’t. He looked … mouthwatering. “Hey, sweet thing,” he said in a low cajoling voice. “Come on out. I’ll gonna love you up, I promise. You know you want some of that.”
“Oh, please,” Emily said on a laugh to cover up the fact that her bones melted at the
sound of him. “That’s never going to work—“
But hell if the cat didn’t shift ever so slightly closer to Wyatt and sniff at him.
Wyatt flashed both Sweetie and Emily a smile. “Aw, that’s it,” he crooned to the
suspicious, wary cat. “Come on, baby girl, all the way. I’ll be good to you, I promise.”
Emily laughed again, even as she felt her nipples tighten.
The newest book in the Animal Magnetism series, Still the One, is due out April 7. It promises to have more adorable animals and a wonderful, sweet and sexy romance. The heroine rescues S&R dogs and pairs them up with wounded veterans. Our hero happens to need her for some of his patients. I just know this one is going have so many happy sigh moments just like all the others!
So how about you? What is your favorite thing about the Animal Magnetism series?
About the book:
Darcy Stone is game for anything—except sexy Navy vet and physical therapist AJ Colten, the guy who’d rejected her when she’d needed him most. Now the shoe is on the other foot and he needs her to play nice and help him secure grants for his patients. Unfortunately Darcy can’t refuse. She needs the money to fund her passion project: rescuing S&R dogs and placing them with emotionally wounded soldiers.
AJ admits it—Darcy is irresistible. But he’s already been battle-scarred by a strong-willed, vivacious, adventurous woman like Darcy, and he’s not making the same mistake twice—until he and Darcy are forced to fake a relationship. Growing closer than they’d ever imagined possible, Darcy and AJ have to ask themselves: how much between them is pretend? What’s the real thing? And where does it go from here?
