It’s officially Fall! Which in Texas means temps in the high 80’s and low 90’s, homecoming mums, football games and a mix of people trying to dress for fall weather in boots and scarves and me saying to hell with that and still wearing my flip-flops. Also, lots and lots of good books.
Base Instincts by Larissa Ione AMZ BN K
I love this series. I love that the world keeps growing and evolving. I especially love that there is an m/m release featuring two new characters and introducing a new class of demons. Fans of the Demonica series will be familiar with Seminus demons and their daily need for sex with females for survival. So what happens if you are a Seminus demon who only desires men? Raze has maintained a deal with a succubus who he considers his friend to provide those needs. There is no romantic connection between them, and he craves contact with a male who will touch him with desire and need. Enter in Slake, an assassin who has been tasked with bringing in Raze’s bed partner. If he fails he will forfeit his soul.
Raze and Slake have crazy chemistry almost from the moment they meet. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out how Ms. Ione would make this HEA work, but let me tell you it so does. I really enjoyed this couple’s steamy romance and happily ever after. My only complaint is I wish it was much longer.
Hollywood Dirt by Alessandra Torre AMZ BN K
Jen recommended this one to me and she was (as always) absolutely correct. Lots of charm and humor, with a southern heroine who is ready to escape her notorious reputation and small town and a cynical Hollywood mega-star going through a high-profile divorce who finds himself reluctantly enjoying being away from the bright lights. They fight, they snark at each other and then they fall in love. This is good stuff.
Jen’s WTRW here.
Closed Doors by Kit Rocha AMZ BN K
Short and dirty. A nice little afternoon treat featuring Dallas, Lex, Noelle and Jas. I believe this is still free on Kit Rocha’s website or you can download at all major retailers for just .99.
Craving Flight by Tamsen Parker AMZ BN K
Very well done love story about acceptance and sexual awakening and fulfillment. I don’t read a lot of BDSM, but the blurb intrigued me and I found myself captivated by Tzipporah and her craving for acceptance not only by her Orthodox community, but her family and ultimately the man she has chosen as her husband.
Wicked Fall by Sawyer Bennett AMZ BN K
Dirty. Dirty, dirty, dirty. My first Sawyer Bennett romance and all I can say is “wow, that was dirty.” While I did enjoy the main couple, it was Woolf’s best friend Bridger who stole the show for me. I am soooooo looking forward to his book.
