I finally kicked my reading funk to the side and delved into some really good books the last couple of weeks. YAY! All it took was some sexy werewolves, a couple of big, blue aliens, the grim reaper and one super dirty underground fighter. Goodbye reading funk. May you not return for a good long while.
This is the dirty underground fighter I mentioned above.
When Charlotte sells her condo and gives all her money to her twin sister so that she can get away from a psycho ex-lover, she settles for a shit apartment in a dangerous neighborhood. Her life is in shambles and although she knows it’s only temporary, she’s pretty depressed over her current circumstances.
Then Jesse Herrera literally pushes into her world. He’s big and scarred and grumpy and almost too much for the introverted Charlotte to take. I mean she wants to rip his clothes off and fantasizes about all the dirty, dirty things they could get up to, but they’re only fantasies. She’s never going to actually get the courage up to do any of those things. Or will she? Finding out Jesse is an underground fighter who likes orgies only makes him more fascinating. Despite knowing how dangerous they are to each other, Jesse and Charlotte can’t help but get all wrapped up in how they make each other feel. It’s too bad that his brother and her sister are about to come between them.
Told in alternating first person POVs Bad Neighbor is a fast, easy read that brings the angst and sexy in maximum levels. Charlotte and Jesse are HOT. The second book in the series, (omg I love this) The Bad Boy’s Secret Baby, releases May 2017 and will feature Abby and Jack.
And I fell against him.
With Jesse I lived in a hundred percent of my body. Just like him. I felt him in every inch of my skin. I felt him inside of my skin. He was in my skin and bones.
And this would be the sexy werewolves mentioned above.
Ms. Erickson’s first foray into PNR and it was dirty, sexy, amazing as only she can write. This world is set up kind of like shifters meet zombie apocalypse. I’ve heard a few people mention The Walking Dead after reading this , but since I don’t watch TWD I have no idea. In this world there are three different types of wolves; Werewolves who are human or wolf, weres who are human, wolf or a big scaryass mixture of both, and noweres who are basically zombie killing machines. No humans, as they were wiped out by a virus.
When Reese wakes up broken and bruised locked in the cell of the local Were pack, he knows the escape from their Werewolf pack he and his siblings attempted failed somehow. His brother Jude sits beside him, but his sister Selene is still in the clutches of their evil Alpha. He fully intends on finding a way out of this mess in order to save his sister.
When he is brought before the alpha of the Silver Tip Were Pack, it doesn’t take him or Dare, the alpha, to realize they are each other’s fated mates. One big sniff of each other is really all it takes. Which complicates things immensely. Dare is big, and scary and Reese has heard only horrible things about Weres. That doesn’t stop them for long though. Oh no, Dare and Reese are positively hot for each other and once they give in the first time they are practically insatiable.
You may be thinking, instalove or instalust, and while I will agree with the instalust, I thought Ms. Erickson did a wonderful job building the rest of their relationship even though they do jump each other’s bones pretty quickly. The trust was earned, and the love built slowly.
I am so intrigued by the secondary characters and am very much looking forward to what comes next in this series.
His smile faded, but that look of affection didn’t. In a soft voice, he said. “I think I like you mate.”
I dropped my hands to my lap. “I think I like you too.”
I’ve quite enjoyed this series so far. I was expecting the third book in the Bad Things series to feature an angel and a werewolf, but instead got a reaper and a fairy. Despite being a little surprised at two new characters, I really enjoyed myself. Undead Or Alive features the last Reaper, Cass and a woman I can’t say much about because that would be a pretty big spoiler. Suffice it to say she has both Luke and Leo searching for her and she’s pretty important in the supernatural world.
This was such an easy, fun read. I’m pretty sure I finished it in one sitting. The next book in the series, Broken Angel releases December 13th and I am so excited.
“Is he really what you want?”
“He’s everything I want.”
Everyone knows I’m addicted to this series. Once again, a surprise release and I drop everything in order to get back to my big, blue aliens.
The tenth book in the Ice Planet Barbarians series is the second chance love story of Asha and Hemalo. It’s sad and deals with some heavy subject matter as Asha and Hemalo have separated after the loss of their child and are each dealing with depression. When they resonated to each other they really didn’t know each other that well, and the death of their beloved daughter has driven them apart. Now they stay at opposite ends of their new settlement, living separate lives and not knowing how to help each other. But when they resonate to each other again, will they be able to heal their wouldnds enough to have a future together?
I think this is my favorite of the series so far. Although, the last several books in the series have been awfully heavy, I’m hoping that with Farli coming up next we’ll get something a little lighter.
“My mate,” Hemalo murmurs as he kisses me. “My sweet Asha. I would wait forever for you.”
