Amy’s 2012 Recommendations
Once again another year bids us adieu and what a year it’s been for romance! In the midst of all of the 50 Shades knockoffs, I did discover many new, fresh authors with substantial stories that blew the stereotypical cold Billionaire out of the water. It was difficult narrowing down my list because I had so many favorites throughout the year. I will confirm that every book left a lasting impression on my heart and mind either through the story or the multifaceted characters living within the pages. There were some seriously epic heroes on my list as well as fierce heroines and most of all authors that have warranted a permanent place on my bookshelf. So now I give you my top favorites of 2012.
About Last Night by Ruthie Knox ** [AMZ – BN – S – K]
New author Ruthie Knox made a grand first impression this year with two strong, character driven contemporary novels. I could gush all day about Ruthie’s captivating voice within the pages as well as her hunky heroes. Englishman, Nev Chamberland is not perfect, but he is perfectly made for me and one of my top favorite heroes of 2012. If you swoon for the strong, sexy British hero with a heart of gold, Nev aka “City” is your man! My review.
On Dublin Street by Samantha Young ** [AMZ – BN – S – K]
Samantha Young was known exclusively as a YA author until this year when she jumped all into the adult contemporary genre and boy did she make a mark! Countless friends and readers, (including myself) could not stop talking/tweeting about our love for On Dublin Street and how badly we were dying for more of Samantha’s voice in the adult genre. Braden, Braden, Braden…*sighs*. Oh how I love the complicated, devilishly sexy, Braden Carmichael. He has too many facets and fabulously flawed qualities to list but you can’t help but be enamored with his electric personality and tender heart. On Dublin Street is a memorable story, rich in emotion with a great message of hope. My review.
Exposed To You by Beth Kery ** [AMZ – BN – S – K]
Tantric sex and an Oscar worthy blowjob…need I say more? Well, yes, I must because Beth Kery not only writes some of the most smoking hot erotic loving, but she has a mastered the gripping emotion and passion to deliver a beautifully rich story within the pages of Exposed to You. Once again, a hero to die for, Everett Hughes is all things, steady, solid and sexy. He knows how to deliver intimacy, patience and love like no other. You will long for an Everett of your own after reading this beautifully sensual love story. My review.
Stripped by Tori St. Claire ** [AMZ – BN – S – K]
Tori St. Claire is better known as Clare Ashgrove in the romance genre. This year she branched out under the pen name St. Claire to deliver erotic and electrifying romantic suspense. Stripped is the first book in the Black Opal series and it packs a stellar punch! This was by far my favorite RS book of the year. Take a badass CIA heroine and an undercover, sexy as sin detective and you get edge of your seat action and sizzling sexual goodness at its best! Mandi’s review from Smexybooks.
Star Crossed by Kele Moon ** [AMZ – BN – S – K]
Kele Moon became a permanent favorite author on my shelf after reading her dark, erotic Eden series in 2011. (I’m on pins and needles waiting for the next book.) Having read all of her back list and reviewing most all, I can never get enough of her uniquely diverse writing style and beautifully flawed characters. Star Crossed is the second book in the contemporary Battered Hearts series and I knew this couple, Romeo and Juliet, would be extraordinary. Tori from Smexybooks and I did a joint review of this special couple.
The Queen of Crack aka Kristen Ashley **
There is just no other word to describe Kristen Ashley’s books or her voice other than cracktastic. I discovered Ashley earlier in the year when I read The Gamble from her Colorado Mountain series. I will be honest in saying that it was not the best first impression, however, I was still riveted to her voice and knew that I wanted to read more. Once I ventured on, I was hooked along with several of the other ladies here at Fiction Vixen as well as my friend Tori from Smexybooks. Tori and I wrote a blog post earlier in the year discussing what makes Ashley the Queen of Crack. As the year ends I’ve read all of her series except the Fantasyland and Ghost series. Here are my favorites that I excessively re-read with unforgettable alpha-hole heroes.
Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mt) Hero: Tate Jackson; Total alpha-hole.
Lady Luck (Colorado Mt.) Hero: Ty Walker; Alpha-hole convicted of a crime he didn’t commit.
Breathe (Colorado Mt.) Hero: Chace Keaton; Alpha-hole detective with a heart of gold. One of my favorite heroes of Ashley’s.
Motorcycle Man (Dream Man) Hero: Kane “Tack” Allen; Kristen Ashley’s most epic alpha-hole. Tack is like no other!
Rock Chick Revenge (Rock Chick)Hero: Luke Stark; Total alpha-hole yumminess and the hottest man of the “Hot Bunch”.
Creed (Unfinished Hero) Hero: Tucker “Creed”; More reserved alpha but I adored his love story with Sylvie.
The Golden Dynasty (Fantasyland) Hero: Dax Lahn; Major alpha-hole who reminded me of Kahl Dragos from Game of Thrones.
With Everything I Am (The Three) Hero: Callum; Smokin’ hot alpha-hole wolf. One of Ashley’s hottest books.
Lethal Rider My review/Rogue Rider My review– (Lords of Deliverance) Larissa Ione is one of my top favorite PNR authors of all time. I’ve claimed Reseph from Rogue Rider as my personal Horseman and I’m more than happy to jump on his saddle! This is PNR at its best.
Damaged Goods by Lauren Gallagher– An unconventional relationship between a single mom and a male escort/prostitute. A sizzling hot read with a realistic look into the lives of a couple searching for intimacy and belonging. Jen’s review.
About That Night by Julie James (FBI/US Attorney)-Julie James is one of my top favorite contemporary authors and twitter terrorist, Kyle Rhodes will torch your heart. Loved this installment of the series. My review.
My Liege of Dark Haven by Cherise Sinclair(Mountain Masters)– Xavier is an incredible hunk of smokin’ hot goodness. I would submit to him on any occasion! Jen’s review.
Consequences by Aletha Romig– Gripping psychological thriller with a sadistic, vile psychopath male lead. Jen’s review.
So there you have it. My favorite pics of 2012 and all are books I will continue to re-read in days to come. I hope you will give some of these a place on your bookshelf.
~Happy New Year!~ And happy 2013 reading everyone!
